I'm looking for somewhere to shoot in colorado near denver or not too far into the mountains. I know you can shoot in national forest but where the hell is national forest? I'm really tired of getting raped at the crappy hole in the wall indoor ranges around denver. I also don't care for having douche bags shoot shotguns 8 inches from my head. My dad lives near some shooting areas in woodland park but he never wants to do anything.

Colorado Clays is nice if the weather is over 45 degrees. If it is cold, I go to Blu-Core.

I'm looking more for outdoor areas for free. Somewhere not too far into the mountains. I go to blue core sometimes but the staff are dicks and the range is overpriced.

I live up in the Divide/Florissant area which is just up the road from Woodland Park. I've found a few place to shoot both handguns and long guns in the Pike National Forest. I wouldn't shot clays up there so I would have to go to a range for that. I can shoot long guns out to 500+ yards easily and it is just a short drive from the house. Of course, not a whole lot of fun with the snow on the ground at the moment.

It was in the 70s today. No snow in Denver.

We got into the low to mid 50's today and yesterday. Most of my drive has melted away. Not sure how the roads are in the national forest as they don't get paved but did see about five or six 4X4's headed up that way to play. We still have more snow on the ground than bare places as the elevation here at the house is 9100 feet.
