Just picked up a PM9 all black and love it. best subcompact I have owned. I am considering a Viridian reactor green laser. Apparently comes with a holster that allows instant on upon draw. While my older eyes are the best to see sights I am just not sure if the value of a laser.

Would like to hear others POV.

This line is confusing. You may get better responses if you clear this up a bit.

Hard to see the sights although in a self defense situation not sure most will even use sights.

As far as sights go, there are lots to choose from, sx big dots, fiber optic, glow in the dark night sights...
Easy to install yourself if you are so inclined, or cheap enough to have a `smith do it.
As for lasers, my crimson trace mounted on my cw45 is for when i dont have time to find the sights, squeezing the grip the laser shows me where the muzzle is pointing, hopefully at the perps face. In a defense situation i would not expect to have time to think about sights or much anything else...
just my 2 cents.

My situation is similar. 68 year old eyes, CM9, and fuzzy sights. Agree on the Green. I can not see Red laser outdoors. In my case when I used dot/post Kahr sights on my CM9 compared a red dot laser on my Ruger SR22 at 10 yards double taps, I did a little better with my CM9. I would think it may depend on practice and what you are accustomed to. In my case, I will stick to the factory sights for now. Cheaper, no new holsters, no batteries to depend on, no bouncing dots to locate and follow. Have not tried night sights but might be a good option.

I like the stock sights on my MK. I usually see white the best. Night time is point and shoot time. Lasers may help some in training, otherwise an unneeded expense IMHO................

Interesting. We are apparently censoring the names of other forums now.

I'm a firm believer in the value of lasers for practice and training. On the fence for a red laser for SD. I've used a laser (red) on both my P3AT and Glock 26 and there were times in practice, on bright days, where it was hard to pick up the dot that concerned me and I no longer carry with a laser. These green lasers could have me changing my mind but I'd like to be able to try a green laser out before investing in one.

I am sold on lasers as a tool to allow quick aquisition of the target, without needing to use the sights. Many talk of self defense situations happening so fast, that they don't have time to line up the sights and aim a shot at the attacker, and instead shoot from the hip. With the laser you have a pretty good idea of where you shot is going to hit no matter where you shoot from. It also allows accurate shooting without exposing one's head and eyes to draw fire. Some people will say they are absolutely unnecessary and they are more trouble than they were worth.
Some people said the automobile was hazordous and would never amount to anything and that it scared the horses and gave any number of reasons that it was unnecessary. Some people just don't want to accept advancements in technology.
I think any tool that allows better and quicker target aquisition is much more of an advantage, than a drawback. Be it better sights, a laser, or whatever you decide on. I've not tried the green lasers, A website selling them claims they are much more visible in daylight than red ones. And gives some examples. Even though bright daylight does affect the visibility of the red laser dot on the target, they sure work well otherwise. I'd have a laser on all my CC pistols if I could afford it. I'd probably go with the green ones. They didn't have that choice when I bought my CT laser a few years ago.
