To those of you who may be interested Sisal rope is made from the Sisal plant which is native to central America. I told you I was a sailor. :)

Back when I was young (just after dirt was made) sisal or hemp was rope. Now nylon is most common and hemp is a restricted substance. One summer I worked for a moving company and we used the bowline to cinch down a tier before Airequipt tie down strips were put in the boxes. I still use that knot to tie down wood in my Ranger for the ride home.
