Hi all,

I just received the Kahr night sights for my CM9 today in the mail and they looked pretty good upon initial inspection. After I went through with the install however I noticed something weird happened. When I turned the slide over to inspect the sight I was pretty shocked to see that there is now a hole in the white ring that surrounds the tritium vial. The hole allows me to see clear into the sight and at the bottom of the front screw. As you can imagined I was pretty pissed.

I'm thinking that the sight screw was touching that white glue-like substance that surrounds the tritium vial and when I removed the screw it ripped out a piece of that "ring". I honestly had no idea that these sights were built like that.

I'm definitely contacting Kahr about this but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced that same issue with their CM/CW front night sight?

Yeah, I had one do that. I wouldn't be surprised if they are all made with those two holes intersecting, but I'd guess only Trijicon knows for sure.
As it appears to be just white paint around the tritium tube, I cleaned it up, put more paint in there, and haven't had any problems with it since.

Greg

Hard to tell by the picture but it doesn't look healthy. Is the sight itself chipped or is the plastic tube around the tritium tube gouged? Looks like the screw was a bit longer than it should be.

Thanks for the reply. Mind sharing what type of paint you used and how you applied it?

Mine did same thing. Annoying I'm just gonna paint it.

Hey Greg- hoping you see this and can provide us with some info. I'd like to "refresh" a white ring I kind of messed up a little. Thanks!

I would use fingernail polish. Its made to be a little tougher than model paint, which is still a viable option.

I used some white paint for plastic models, that I had on hand. I apply it with a toothpick, then lightly swirl a Q-tip (with a little paint thinner) on it to smooth it out. Then repeat as needed to get the result/coverage I want. There was some paint haze on the tritium capsule, but once the paint was dry, that cleaned off with a toothpick.

Greg

Thanks. It's such a tiny surface/area so I hope I don't ham-fist it, but I'll give it a shot.

I have had good luck with appliance paint for these kind of touch ups. Any home improvement store will have it.

I picked up a cm9 with night sights yesterday with the same problem, so I'm going to try a little nail polish on it as I keep a bottle for marking my standard sights. I also had the familiar screw problems. The front screw on the front sight was missing, and there is a small dent in the guide tube, presumably caused by the screw.
Since the threads in the sight were damaged and replacing the screw was not an option, I decided to use a punch and flared the post as you would a rivet. I'm not sure it's a perfect fix, but since it was the only way to make use of the damaged sight I have nothing to lose by trying.
I'll let you know how well it worked after my next trip to the range.

Sorry if I drifted a little off topic but thought it was worth sharing.
