They are often used on snubbies… Narrowed at the top.

It's hard to see at that angle, but on the S&W forum those are known as "cokes". I don't think they are the standard for snub-nosed revolvers. You usually find a more abbreviated grip on them.

S&W: "Magna" grips.
Other makes: they are sometimes called "service" grips.

Yes, S&W calls them "magna" grips. I don't see them so much on snub-nose revolvers, a lot of those come with what is commonly called "round butt" grips for concealment.

You do find Magna grips on square butt, K frame, snubbies, such as this Model 10 posted by SaxonPig on a S&W forum:

"J" frame Magna grips have rounded edges and corners, as on my square butt model 36:

To quote Muggsy, "Yup". The magna grip can be found on larger frame S&W snubbies. The smaller framed S&W snubbies are usually round butt.
