On a recent visit to my local gun shop I picked up a P9. All I was told was that it was the off-duty carry pistol for a LEO. I read that Kahr sells a Spring Maintenance Kit https://www.kahr.com/Gun-Maintenance/Kahr-P-Series-Spring-Maintenance-Kits-P9-NEW-STYLE.asp and would appreciate any feedback from others have have used this or other kits?
Any other recommendations for cleaning, maintenance, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Last time I looked, the inclusive spring kit was pretty expensive and not needed. The recoil spring is the only one that needs any regular replacement... and that's at around 1,500 rounds. You don't want to replace every spring ever. Most are good for the reasonable "life of the pistol".
I usually wait until a problem crops up at the range and then replace suspect parts. I had to replace my P380 spring for the first time after almost 5 years. The slide wasn't going all the way closed... maybe 1/16" short of full battery... and I had to thumb the slide forward after inserting a mag and releasing the slide.
On another... my PM45... I put the stock striker spring back in after having a few failures to fire with the 5-lb spring from Wolff.
This is why I go to the range and practice... it also lets me discover any problems... hopefully before any real need for self defense where failures can cost my life.
Do look at the stickies and find the preparation and lubrication posts to keep your pistol running fine.
I have the P380, PM9, P9, P40, and PM45. I love the polymers... lighter!
Wynn :-)
PS: Do keep an eye on the slide lock spring, especially when re-inserting the slide lock lever. This spring can be damaged or broken easily from improper installation. Check out the installation video at kahr.com.

wyntrout,
Thank you for the great advice! I will check out the videos, give the P9 a good cleaning and replace the recoil spring. Then on to the range!

I have owned, and carried a lot of the time, a P9 since about 2003, I think. It has over 2000 rounds, maybe 3000 rounds, I don't count. It has had no parts replaced since new. It has never, ever had a single problem. It is a great carry gun although lately I can't help but carry another great little gun, the CM9. I try to work my Glock 33 into the mix, but it is getting really hard with the CM9 being just about a perfect carry gun.

I have read many good things about the CM9 so that will have to check that one out!
Thanks again for all the replies and great advice!
