Yeah, I got some plastic fantastics, but I like the old school stuff. Cut my teeth on my dad's service weapon a S&W Mod 28 Highway Patrolman, .357. I use to sneak it off in Jr. High along with our old station wagon to shoot old ammo dad left lying around. Love old revolvers. So, here are a couple ya might like.
This is a S&W 1905 Hand Ejector, 3rd change from around 1910. Dated by the serial # of 168,XXX. It's a 38 spl, 4 inch, 6 shot. It has the old 5 screw frame and longer action than the later model 10s & other K frames. In great shape inside and out. Great shooter. A hand tooled leather holster that came with it.

And here is it's much younger brother, a S&W Mod 10-5 from teh mid 80s. It is much the same except for the shorter action, lowered hammer spur, 2 less frame screws and newer finish. DA is smooth like the old gun. Both are .38 spls. I shoot mostly home case wadcutters outof them that I handload. However, I keep some +P Rem. 158 gr. JHPs in them for pest control around the yard. Don't feed them a steady diet of +Ps. The newer gun would probably take it, but the older one maybe not.
The Model 10-5.

Nice! And that holster's got character!
x2....
My first revolver, tail end of the 50's, was a 4" Smith Model 10. And I'm still addicted to K-Frames, Current inventory holds four.

Bought a model 10 for my wife several years ago. Every house should have a model 10 and a marlin model 60 as basic supplies.

Well, K frames are just about right for everyone. But, I managed to hang on to one J frame during aperiod of hard times. i just couldn't giver it up.
Model 60, .38 spl. Pachys on it. Have original grips. Killed a javelina in the yard with this little pistola.

I've been acquiring old S&W revolvers for years. I own several dozen now. They represent the best of American craftsmanship.

Gave a Model 13 & a Model 36 to one of my sons, a Model 34 to a grandson, and sold a Model 10 (6" barrel) to my brother - so I only have 3 Smiths left:

My wife's boss has a Model 19 Combat Master 6" I'm trying to lay claim too. Only seen pictures so far but it looks minty.
My semi old book puts it's value at like 350 to 425 or so. He says it's perfect but I don't know if he had the box and stuff that came with it.
We joke each other a lot, I offered him a 100 bucks, no word back yet.
Anybody know what recent values might be on these? I've given away a few also and kind of need to restock.

Book price is just about right. I would guess @ 4 bills is fair for LNIB. Less if it has wear, no box, etc. Price is also relative to location too or how many available. Around here, not many if any. I can't find one.
Been trying ot replace at least one of 2 I had. I had to sell one kinda plain one that I bought used in a pawn shop, like new for 250 back in the mid 90s. There were plent to be had. Then I got one with all the Ts in a swap. My F in law just had to have it. So, I loaned it to him. After I sold mine and a few others during hard times, I thought I could just get that one back later. Well, a few months later he comes by asking if i had the gun cause he found the bag in his van and no gun. I asked him, "Why would I take the gun without the bag?" He and the M in law always had a bad habit of leaving their vehicles wide open wherever they went. So, I assume the Model 19 just walked off.
Yeah, I had to sell a few nice ones when I was forced to retire early. Had a 19, 15, 17, 37, 64, & a 66. Even had a Model 52 Target master auto pistol in .38 spl wadcutter only. Cried over that one, but I got what it was worth.

Nice pistolas Armybrat. Been wanting a humpback S&W for a while. I had a real beater for a good while that I got off an LEO some years back. It was the Airweight model and all the finish was worn. Kinda loose too, but it worked o.k. So, I painted the frame flat black and cold blued the barrel and cylinder. It served me well for several years back in the 90s.
Guy came into a show a couple of minths back trying to sell one for 4 bills in .38 spl. It was like new, but no box or papers. I only offered him 3 for it. He wouldn't drop down a nickle. Thought the price was too close to a new one at Academy Sports. Turned out I was right.

Pancho Villa,
That old Texas Jock Strap holster may be worth more than the post war Model 10.. Vintage leather is going the way of old S&W stocks.

Yup, 3" Heavy Barrel.
Balance is absolutely perfect.
Carries like a dream.
Trigger is glassy and smooth as butter.
DA so sweet I often don't even shoot SA.

I've spent a boatload of money on grips.
Eagle Secret Service, Pachmayr Decelerator and Compac plus various Hogue wood/rubber grips.
Settled on Hogue Bantam for my two J Frames and Special K.
The big N Frame 629 runs Pachmayr Compacs.
Actually really like Compacs a lot on the K.
But it carries better with Bantams.

After seeing such beautiful works of art in steel and leather, this was my only handgun I felt was fit to be included in such company. My '78 era Dan Wesson Pistol Pack, with 8, 6, 4 and 2 inch barrels and shrouds. Having trouble finding a nice holster that converts from 8 down to 2 inches though. :) I don't know if it's ever been fired. I bought it from the 2nd owner, and he said he never shot it, but didn't know if the original owner had or hadn't. It sure looks unfired, other than what they did at the factory. I haven't shot it, I have a couple other Dan's for shooting. I know I'd be sick if I took it out shooting and put some kind of ding or bad scratch on it.

I once had that identical pistol pack and don't think for a second I don't hate myself for parting with it. It was a super gun and I shot mine alot.
I think once again that's what ya call 20/20 hindsight.
