I talked to my brother today (The one who bought my CW45). I asked him how the gun was running. He said not so well. He said he's having some light strikes. He says it happens just about every fourth round. He says the firing pen is striking the primer but it doesn't fire. He also said it happens with American Eagle fmj's and with numerous defense hollow points.
I took a look at his gun but I'm no expert or armorer. I did notice the gun to be very dry and poorly cleaned. I guess good preventative maintenance doesn't run in the family. I never had that problem occur when I owned the gun. I've put over 600 rounds through it with no problems. He also said that he's put around 750 rounds through it. Apparently he's been having the problem for a long time and hasn't thought about fixing it or correcting it until I asked him about it.
Any suggestions?
I would start with a detail strip of the slide. Clean the striker and striker channel. Then, do a full cleaning of the rest of the pistol. That, alone, may restore full function of the gun. But even if it doesn't, cleaning is the first step.

I told him he needs to clean it better. I also showed him how to properly lube it as well, which he had no idea how to do. I'll probably end up getting it back from him so I can detail strip the slide.

CW9 was doing this when fairly new. The original recoil spring wasn't stout enough. E-mailed Ian at Kahr service and they sent me a new spring [much stronger than original] and the problem was solved.
Tight chamber perhaps. Test .... kick the slides butt after every round, see if that makes it stop. If it does, clean the chambet and switch ammo brand.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll start with detail stripping the slide. Also, how many rounds do you usually need to replace the recoil spring? The gun should have close to 1400 rounds through it already.

Some have said 1500 is a good ballpark no. , I say have one or two on hand, first thing to replace when it starts acting up.

Thank you. Sounds like a plan.

1400 rounds? Do The good cleaning and replace that recoil spring and I'll bet the light strikes go away.
