Just received this email from Sig Sauer and wanted to pass it on here. This should apply to all pistol braces not just ones manufactured by Sig Sauer.
BATFE REAFFIRMS PISTOL BRACE LEGAL TO OWN, INSTALL AND USE
Newington, N. H. (February 20, 2015) – SIG SAUER, Inc. has issued the following statement relative to the January 2015 open opinion letter issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regarding the SB15 and SBX Pistol Stabilizing Braces.
BATFE Technical Branch issued an open opinion letter dated January 16, 2015 regarding the Pistol Stabilizing Brace (SB15 and SBX) which is marketed by SIG SAUER®. Contrary to several statements subsequently made in social media, this opinion letter did not make or otherwise declare that the SB15 product is illegal. The BATFE letter stated that the SB15 is a product “which is legal to own, legal to purchase and legal to install on a pistol.” SIG SAUER believes that the PSB enhances the shooter’s experience and offers the products as an accessory and pre-installed on a number of pistols. In all of its opinions, BATFE has consistently stated that a pistol with a stabilizing brace attached remains a pistol under the Gun Control Act when used as designed.
Right. It's perfectly legal to use as designed.
The letter stated that shouldering the stabilizing brace was not consistent with the design. Shouldering the pistol brace would reclassify the pistol as a SBR. A SBR, of course, requires a tax stamp.

Sadly I know ranges in my area that if they see you shouldering a brace equipped weapon the first time they warn you. The second time the call the BATFE. Since you must surrender your SDL to rent a lane they know who you are and have your information.

Screw the ATF. I just shot my buddies 11.5" AR15 with a Sig brace today out in the desert...and I shouldered it when I shot it.
Thank God I live in Arizona...the land of the mostly free!
He did file the paper work for an SBR, but after he finally receives it, he should keep the Sig brace on it...just to be a dick. I would.

I wouldn't be publicly bragging about shouldering it....a lot of people review various web sites.

And I wouldn't shoulder it during a self-defense event while rule-of-law prevailed, unless I was prepared for some slammer time.

I shouldered it. I don't care what the ATF thinks about it. I'd love to see them demand the forum owner give up whatever info they have on me to try figure out who I am, and then try to prosecute me over a post I made, with no other proof.

89Grand the "G" gets warrants for internet posts ALL the time. If you have the belief they cannot track you down if they want to is laughable. YouTube is one of the best crime fighting tools out there along with FB and webboards, it is all over the news for those paying attention. Time to smell the coffee.

Here's my rule of thumb. Never write down, type, or post anything you wouldn't be willing to repeat in court.

Exactly. That's how a lot of stunt motorcyclists are tracked down and fined for reckless operation (or worse, as in the case of that NYC incident).
"Your honor, you can see in exhibit A that the defendant not only expressed his intent to shoulder said device in violation of intended purpose, but accompanied it with contempt."
Seriously dude, don't land yourself in jail. Our taxes are burdened enough already.

Oh, and figuring out who you are? That can be done over a script kiddie's snack time even without the network taps we know are in place thanks to Snowden's disclosures.
