A plain old Dan Wesson Mod 14, 4" in .357 mag. I's an old one cause the serial nuber is low. Definitely "Monson" made for the purists. Brochore in the box says, "Most accurate handgun in the world." It may not be the most accurate, but it is is right up there with those that can cut a ragged 3/4" hole at 25 yds. off a rest. Will do it with most brands of ammo and my crappy handloads too. I am inclined to believe the claim.

A Taurus Mod 85 in .38 spl. on top, 3 inch barrel. Has a set of Pachys on it from a S&W J frame to make it "comfy" fot shoot with +Ps. I gave this gun to my F in law to carry in his R.V. in the early 90s. It had 5 rounds in it and the rest of a box of Rem. 125 gr. JHPs. Got it back 3 years ago when he went in a nursing home. He never fired it. My old S&W Mod 60 below it.

A Taurus 85 Ultra Lite, 2" that I carry some with +Ps.

An H&R 999 "Sportsman" top break .22 cal. 9 shot, 4" barrel. Got it to replace a 6" one that I had to sell during hard times.

My brother ordered a Model 85 Taurus about 20 years ago - they sent a stainless steel one to his FFL by mistake, but he didn't complain. They are nice revolvers for the price.
A poster on the Texas sports board where I hang out a lot is considering selling his 25 year old S&W Model 65 with 3" barrel - he says maybe 500 rounds through it. I'd buy it, as the 3" is pretty scarce, but the #1 gun on my want list is a new production Colt 3rd Generation SAA, followed by a couple others.:

Thought I'd copied the picture???? It's the H&R 999 Sportsman.
I found one of these a few years ago at a gun show. I wanted it sooooo bad. It was new in box at the time. Had to let it go.

I had a chance to swap into a 3" Model 13 a few shows back. Man, I wanted it, but the guy wanted too much. It was like new. He wanted to swap it for a beater XD Tacticool I got cheap in a swap. I had painted the gun flat black cause it was finish worn and he couldn't tell the difference. He wanted something like my gun and 100 bucks for the 13. or 5 cash. I would not go ver 3 cash on it, but I would swap him even. He came back several times to gug with me and got down to my gun and 50 boot. Still nope.
Last time he came, I had a guy walk up with 3 older steel handguns, one being the Ballester/Molina .45, a like new STAR BM in 9 mil, and an FIE Cheapie Beretta knock off .22 in nickle finish. He couldnot get someone to swap him a new XD or Glock for all three, but he could get by with mine. The other jerk with the Model 13 just kinda stood there stupid and said, "Man ya had that traded to me!" Well, too late and too long a wait. I swapped for the other 3 guns and had to let the Model 13 go.
Was also tempted at the same show to get a S&W Mod 657 in .41 mag, 4" that was a walk in. Guy had been trying ot sell it all day for 5 bills and was down to 4. I would have left broke if I got it cause I had just bought a like new G23 in the box for 375 off another walk in. that one was going home and the 657 would have also. But, I just had to let that one go too. If the guy had brought the S&W with a lower price just 15 ninutes sooner, I woulda snagged it. Glucks are everywhere.

Ihad been looking for a 999 for some time, like 2005. That was when I lost my job and had to thin the flock a bit. I came across a guy at a small mom and pop gunshow up the coast with a 6" one LNIB. He wanted something like 5 bills for it cause he said it was rare. Well, not rare, but hard to find at a decent pricde. He left with it. Next show there, he still had it and was down to 4 on it. He tried all the dealers, no buyers. I had just walked in that show for a day. Kinda small for a table and kinda slow show.
Anyway, I made a few passes at all the people with backpacks. One guy came up with this gun and a HiPoint 9, both in the box. Well, 250 for the 999 and 150 for the highpoint, or 4 for both. Told him I could live with 2 on the 999, but I would have to get the HiPoint for much less. There were some in the show for 10 bucks less than he wanted and those were new. Also, Ihad to buy both to get the 999. He made a few more passes after I offered 3 for both. Finally he gave them up. I got the bill and a half he wanted for the HiPoint late. So, that sorta got the cost of the 999 down to 150.
Dam Wesson is a good and accurate gun. They were quite well respected in the early HMSA shoots, could take lotsa abuse too. Speakin' of which, the best thing about the Dan Wesson is taking the barrel off and being able to clean up the focing cone after thousands of rounds of nasty hot ammo - like those .357 loads with H110 which would slice the top strap and such. The DW is more or less immune to that sorta abuse

Love then DW revolvers , bought my first 15-2 in 1976 and added a 44mag and 22lr . My wife wanted one and picked up a used 15-2 and collected a few extra barrels over time . I stayed with 2400 and found 14.3gr with a 170gr speer sp was not enjoyable to shoot . Killed a lot of piggy's with the DW and a 8" barrel. I finally retired it from hunting and after 20 years and put its 4" barrel on it . the 15-2 and 44m of mine would both shoot a 6 shoot group inside 4" at 1oo yards. Sometimes a little tighter when younger thanks to red dots . I carried a model 85 SS for 20 years and its rare to find a s&w with as smooth a trigger pull .

I've been on the Dan Wesson bandwagon for some time now. I have more Dan's than any other brand of gun. The are all very accurate, and being able to swap barrels lengths is a cool feature.
I have a 4 barrel pistol pack with the 2.5, 4, 6, and 8" barrels that looks like it's never been fired. I've not shot it yet, saving it for a collectors item to sell someday when money is tight.

Only colt to take pounding a DW can is the anaconda and it was designed with the help of the same designer Mr. Wesson used with his revolvers.

This Dan was made in 1977 or 78, going by the serial number. I think the whole thing sold for about $400 back then.

I wish some other makers would come out with something like this. I'd love to have a 3" barrel for 686+
CZ owns the rights to the name now, and they did produce a few 6" Stainless Steel .357's, but they were selling for around 1K, with just the single barrel.
You can buy other barrels for them, as noted earlier EWKArms sells barrels and other parts, but they are all blued.

I had that same exact setup from about that same period. I sorely kick myself to this day for trading it off.
Boy I've done some incredibly dumb things in my day and sadly I don't think I'm done yet.

We're in the same boat of doing stupid things Colonel. I just hope it doesn't say Titanic on the side. I traded my old 65 Mustang, that was pretty rough, for a nice looking 68 Coupe de Ville, and not long after the trade, I noticed that it was loosing power, and it needed a valve job. So I just parked it until I could get the whole motor overhauled. It's a sharp Caddie though. Has Tru Spokes on the front, and Wire baskets on the rear, where you can't see much of them due to the fender skirt.
I probably should just take that motor out, and put in a newer GMC truck engine. That 472 sure can suck up the gas. I think I would do just fine with one of those GMC 327 truck motors, one of them really moves my buddies P.U. right along. Or possibly a modified 350. Just have to see what I can do with it. I'd rather get my 61 DeVille restored first though. The fins on it are killer, has 2 on top and 2 more down towards the bottom. And no B post. It's a 390, so not sure if the gas mileage would be much better. But it's in a lot rougher shape, interior wise. The body isn't too bad, except for a couple places on the hood I think could be hammered out. I sure do like those 60's and late 50's Caddies.

I traded one of these (in .22lr) for a Colt Government .380 about 30 years ago - am still kickin' myself:

for years I've had a Heritage Rough Rider, pot metal .22lr, loaded with 20gr. Aguila Super Colibri, it's hard to beat for a back yard or in the shop plinker. then I got a minor case of snubbie fever and bought a Colt Detective Special wannabe, lookalike from Armscor, the M206. nice shooter and something to carry. I like revolvers, the lack of safeties, the loaded chamber indicators, the weight and feel, the pointability, etc. so I was in my local gun store and saw a revolver that I thought could be the new big brother to my constant companion, Kel-Tec P-32. this revolver, Ruger Single Seven, shoots .32acp and everything in between, up to .327mag. it's snowing so I'm not going to the range today, can't wait to blast some of those .327 mags. anybody carry a 4 5/8" barrel, single action? thanks for this thread and all the revolver pictures.

The Tman Sweet pistol pack . It took me tell a couple years ago to retire my 8" barrel finally try out my new old 4" barrel. Not sure I would know what to do with all the extra's !! But they sure are nice .
Downtownv you may hang on to that one for a looong time
I passed on a 445 and 375 super mags with 10" barrels a man was selling for 800 each . Just could not figure out what to do with them.

I picked up a Model 14 (fixed sights) DW snubbie at a gun show from a guy walking around with a for sale sign on it, for $175.00. A friend of mine kept hounding me for it, and I finally traded it to him for a Kimber 1911 with the ejector in the slide. Some of the good people here warned me there have been problems with those external ejectors, but mine's been fine so far. I need to send it to Robar or something, The slide has some rust pitting from a prior owner. A new Kimber slide with internal extractor for it is around $250 or more. If I do that, I might go two tone, with a Stainless slide, and the blued frame.
I traded a Diamondback DB9 for an older DW Model 14 with a 4" Pork Chop barrel (The barrel has a shroud hanging straight down that holds the cylinder support bearing and arm in place). That one I had to take apart and glean out some gunk and add some new springs, but it's in great condition now. It had been professionally re-blued not long before the guy traded it to me. It's not that luxurious factory finish, it's a bit more matte black, but it still looks pretty decent. And shoots very well.

Think I paid ~$325/$350 for it.
Easy to carry, great balance, trigger like butter and deadly accurate.
