now ya know the 1911 fans are going to steal that and post it as, "I have come with my .45 so that they may have lead and have it in abundance"- J.M. Browning- 2nd Verse
anyway, looks like the pharmacist has a handle on combat point shooting and decision making. good for him.

Yes, I agree. He CAN make a decision......and apparently he CAN point shoot!

His focus was on the target and not on his sights. Good shoot.

I'd cover the guy with my weapon, then probably try something stupid like telling the guy he has his whole life ahead of him, don't just throw it away, give me the gun, and we'll call the cops, and they may take it easy on you since you surrendered. And the guy would probably try and shoot me. And I'd be forced to shoot him anyway. That has to be a big mind eff. Knowing you took someone's life, even in a defensive mode. Maybe if I used my big ole hog leg .44 629 Classic with the 6" barrel, that might make more of an impression, than say some snubby 38.

If a 1911 isn't intimidating enough, the guy isn't going to be intimidated...

I'm happy for the pharmacist but he was very very lucky. Using two noncombatants as cover and then drawing fire with them in that close proximity. It all ended well and thank goodness they did the right thing and ducked out of sight.
Same with the customer on the other side of the counter, she bailed at the first shot.
Alls well that ends well, and this is a good example of the lack of time you'll have for decision making when the elephant looks you in the eye.
Was that a 1911, picture isn't clear enough for me to tell, seems too small to me.

note for self preservation: find cover that won't duck. Good story in the end but any firefight is scary business by definition.

I'm sure he didn't give it a thought and perhaps he was using them to conceal his draw either subconciously or on purpose.
Or maybe he didn't really like them much and was using them as a shield, kind of a two birds with one stone scenario.
Good outcome regardless, he can use his shields again next time.
