I did a little dabbling on another forum recently...gave it the college try...entered a couple-three hundred posts...asked some questions...gave some feedback...spent some compliments...poked the bear a little bit...
And came to the conclusion that, in large, these guys either don't read previous posts or cannot comprehend them. I'm out.
Just to say that you guys and gals rock...and you're stuck with me for awhile.
Thanks!

This is the only forum I belong to....................................I had the same problems. It's pretty much a name calling event out there. If your patient, you can get the info you want on just about any firearm here.
why is it that my mind considers the terms reading comprehension and Jockos typing mutually incompatible
incompatible

Speaking of Jocko, where has he disappeared off to?
I've been hangin' out on several different forums over the past 16 or 17 years - first it was Las Vegas message boards (total of 25,000+ posts), then a couple of Texas Longhorn sports boards (have a total of 36,000 posts on those). Later on got into some gun boards - 1911Forum was the first in 2003 - but KahrTalk has my largest number of gun posts.
Got into a couple of nasty flame wars on two different Vegas boards - there are some pretty bad a-holes online, and I don't brook any BS from them. But about 5 or 6 years ago I finally realized the stupidity of taking some of the crap seriously and started to mellow out a bit.
Made some pretty good friends on the Vegas boards though - we've had some pretty big meets on The Strip & Fremont Street over the years - early ones would be attended by 70 or 80 people, but lately it has dwindled to a dozen or two as many moved on or passed away. The sports board guys are mostly 30-40 years younger than me, so I've just attended a handful of their tailgates & Happy Hours. My favorite Texas sports board can be a really rough place to the uninitiated, and can get quite raunchy with the language.

Did you do any work while posting over 100,000 posts?
I belong to multiple gun fora. Here and the 1911 forum are the only two I visit with any frequency.
Think I heard somewhere jocko got crosswise with some Italian dudes when in Naples and was fitted for a pair of cement shoes.

Sweet Mary and Joseph, I hadn't looked at that number for quite a spell. I'm a dang bonafide bucket mouth myself.
I best sit back and coast a spell. I remember when Wynn used to keep a tally of the counts, way back in an earlier life.
Jocko the little cheater that he is keeps having his numbers bumped back. Guess I don't pay much attention to it myself obviously.
Been here awhile but that's a lot of post. Wonder if I ever said anything intelligent? Probably not.

I've been retired for 18 years - just like to read & blab a lot online while the wife watches the cookin' channel & dancing With The Stars.
Edited to add:
99% of my posts have been one-liners - particularly on the Longhorn Football board. Those usually are like, "Man, we really suck".

In 12 years on the 1911 forum, my post count stands at only 251 as of today. Most all those are in the Springfield Armory and Remington forums.
My nom de plume there is "ScoPro", as it is on the Vegas boards. That was my first username before registering as Armybrat about 10 years ago on a few other boards.

For me? Really? You shouldn't have! :o
Yes, Friedman's comments regarding the internet are particularly interesting given our recent Net Neutrality thread. Kinda explains the G's motive for grabbing control doesn't it?

I'm a member over at the S&W and Ruger forum but don't go there unless I have a specific question on something but I hang out here most every day and find the folks interesting and friendly to jaw with (even Muggsy).... I don't know how many members we had back when I joined in 2009 but it was nowhere near the folks we have today and the place is still growing....I miss some of the old folks that used to post a lot like Tinman, Wynn and ole Jocko and I still miss Detrich who left us too soon....
Really?......
yeah...incredibly so. anything over C is a bust, and that's already really pushin' it.

The two good things about getting senile is that I get to meet new people every day and I never hear the same joke twice. :)

So I'm lurking over on a shotgun forum and I see a thread started by a guy asking advice on buying a used gun...says it comes with all accessories and 5 chokes in the original post. Then in post number 4, another member asks if it comes with the chokes. Seriously? Is it normal for these guys not to read the previous posts? You guys spoil me.

I've read Sir Jocko a number of times and he eased my initial fears about Kahrs. So go easy on him. English as a Second Language is tough.
