Coulda used Range Report as the title but that's overused and not entirely accurate.....this was a 200 round/gun run in without absolute accuracy focus.

Finally got the two new 1911's in 9mm to the range today. 200 rounds each. Mix of 115 WWB, 115 MagTech, and 124 Fed Lawman. The latter closest to my carry ammunition. Six different mags...two Colt, two DW/MetalForm, two Wilson.
-- Dan Wesson ECO ran flawlessly with all. Point of aim best with the 124 Lawman, which suits me just fine, and I've discovered so far it appears I can live pretty okay with the straight eight, trit sights.
-- Colt New Agent. Gonna need work...no big surprise. FTEs..spent cases left in the chamber...and Failure To Feeds. Both most prominent early, with its native Colt mags, and WWB. Most reliable and combat accurate with the 124 Lawman. Latter as good as the DW. Gun's going back to Colt soon now to deal with their safety and recoil assembly recall and I'll ask them to check/tune the extractor while they have it in house. Feed ramp work/polish I'll deal with myself. As well as the too sharp rear edge of the thumb safety that chewed at my hand/thumb joint. Quite good enough trigger, tho, and the trench sights were surprisingly fine. I still may get the slide cut and Novak's installed but works pretty well as a defense weapon point shooter.
-- Long addicted to Wilson mags but the MetalForm, front spaced seem best for these 9mm pistols.

Now, back to our regular programming....

Someday, when I completely lose my mind, I'm going to buy a 9MM EMP.

on the New Agent, have you read this thread http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=5&f=49&t=111073 ? as a "just for grins" experiment, I think I get some easily removed paint (maybe office supply whiteout?) and see if painting the gutter is a help. I'm thinking the white stripe down the top of the slide might help orient the gun when shooting from hip level or higher. when the gun is up at eye level, the white stripe should almost disappear as you come on target. speaking of experiments- wouldn't be that hard to build a CM9 "New Agent"?

Adding some orientation color lines to the trench is a damn good thought....thank you!

I'm with muggsy. A 9mm 1911 is intriguing. But it's pretty far down the list. I guess I'm a little jealous ltxi. Nice pistols.

Thanks. It was pretty far down the list for me as well....that be why I just recently got here. A configuration goin' on my eol I didn't just didn't have and wanted to try. Until recently I'd always considered the 9mm 1911 an abominable crime against nature. With the ascendance of good 9mm ammunition and remembering JMB's Hi Power design incarnation I decided to give it a try. As always, I came down with potato chip affliction and ended up getting two.

The DW is a really good gun and the Colt will be by the time I get through with it. That they are both a good carry weapon configuration and eat 9mm are pluses and I'd buy them, at least/especially the DW, again. But unless you have hobby money to burn, not to be confused with waste, I'd stick with .45ACP.

The big downside to all this for me is that I now really want a DW ECO in .45 as well. :spider:

Funny how satisfaction sometimes generates a new want huh.

I don't have a Dan Wesson ECO 9 yet, but I surely would like a Dan Wesson ECO 45. Guess I missed one step.

All this talk it making me kind of hanker for a 1911 9mm, why the heck is that? This ain't me. You guys are influencing me badly.

Thank goodness my taste for big boobs is still intact so far anyhow.

Yeah, they rock... if you can find them. Springfield armory 9mm 1911 mags are great too. They may in fact both be made by Metalform, as it was argued among a group of 1911 shooters at the club a while back.
