Maybe I just get lucky on the 22 ammo. This is just from the past few days between sportsmans warehouse, cabelas, and gander mountain. Stocking up a bit for camping trips. I'm tempted to get a ruger 22/45 too. I only have the phoenix right now. I can't find any .380 though except defense ammo. Sometimes a box here and there but it's like 20 bucks for 50. The american eagle was 25 bucks and the auto match about 18 each and cci were 5 each. I had some golden bullet that I traded for .40 rounds because of the trouble I had with them in my phoenix.

Nice! I would look at the Ruger SR22 over the 22/45. I have been impressed with mine and it eats everything I feed it.... i am baffled with the 380 availability too, I like the WWB flat nose, but hard to find for me. Have a blast on the camping trip!

I've found 22 at GM and Academy just about every trip. Its been a while since I've seen it at Walmart.
GM has plenty of 380 on the shelf every day....this is in Mobile.

I don't think you'll go wrong with any of the Ruger .22's. IMO a giant step up from Phoenix.

+1 on the SR22, my wife loves hers. Also look at the S&W 22A, excellent guns.
Get the Ruger...22/45 or anything else. Browning Buck Mark perhaps....easier to take down and clean. Honestly happy to hear you're at least considering moving on, past ROF guns.

Not sure what an rof gun is but I have a few decent ones. Kahr and glock, no trouble with them, my little sccy has been great.
I never heard of "ROF" either. I'll guess Retired Old Farts.

We've got both, and I prefer the 22/45, mostly because I am a 1911 kinda guy...
Also, the 22/45 eats anything, while the SR22 is picky about ammo. To be fair, it's only got a few hundred rounds through it, so it may get better.

Hasn't been a problem here in the Chicago 'burgs. Just saw American Eagle stuff for $19.99 a box at my LGS today.

20 bucks is too expensive for a single box of 380. I traded one of my federal 22 boxes of 325 rounds for 2 boxes of pmc 380 today. I get 250 rounds of 380 from the gun show for 60 bucks. They have good deals. 250 rounds of 9mm for 50 and 250 rounds of .40 for 55 I think.

Is it? Seems to be the market rate around here. But what do I know, I reload...
I was addressing the availability issue...

Reloads I assume.

Ten-x brand. Commercial reloads. Good stuff.

Every now & then Academy on-line has Federal .22lr 325 for $17 +$9 shipping ($.075 per round). I've bought twice. Walmart had CCI 100 round 40 gr for the same price on a promo $.075). I put mine through a Beretta Neos which is accurate and fun to shoot. My daughter-in-law likes to shoot it when we boys are shooting.45acp or other centerfire rounds.

My first recollection of buying .22lr was 39 cents for a box of 50 rounds.

Wasn't that back when cherry bombs were 3 for $.50 and 2"ers were 3 for $.25?

Thanks, I may try it. Know little about Ten-X other than I've heard no complaints. The only commercial reloads I've ever used were Venator, back in the day. They were a quality reload outfit out of Wyoming that seems to have folded some years back.

Sure you do and I'm glad to see you considering some more good ones. I bought an old Ruger Mark1 Standard that is a blast to shoot. It's a bear to keep clean though. Glad the Sccy is working too. That one was a coin flip. :D

I ran across some Summit Ammunition commercial reloads. Bought a bunch of revolver ammo...38sp, 357, 45colt...and had no problems. Didn't try any in a semi auto though. Now I wish I'd bought some 44 special and magnum. That seems hard to find around here.
