So, I like my CM9 so much that I decided to but a CW9. Brought it home to clean out the grease and noticed quite a bit of damage to the inside front of the frame, on the right side, on top and bottom of the metal rail that rides in the slide (damage runs the full length of the metal rail that's molded into the frame). It's like the slide gouged the frame. I had to clean out (snip) coils/spirals of stripped polymer. Now, I know this isn't normal in general but is it normal for Kahr given their somewhat lesser standards? Firearm's brand new, not even fired. Can't return it and can't trade it in. I sent an e-mail with pictures to Kahr.
Any help or advice appreciated. Functionally, it's probably not an issue (I hope). What pisses me off is paying new price for damaged goods.
I'd post a picture but don't have permission.
Thanks,
Jim

What do you mean you can't return it? It's brand new, right? I've never heard of Kahr refusing. Please explain.

Maybe you're right but according to my dealer (local gun range) it's mine and "registered" to me. I agree, it's new other than me taking it home and cleaning out the grease. I'll keep you posted.

You should always thoroughly inspect a firearm before you buy it. The gun was test fired at the factory before it went out to the dealer. Kahr manufactures it's firearms to the highest of standards. Kahr's service department will repair or replace any defective parts while the gun is under the five year warranty, provided that you did nothing to void the warranty.

Sent my CW9 back and it's in Kahr's hands now. We'll see what shakes out. I'll report back once it's returned to me.

I am new to the Kahr line myself, and thought the same thing when I stripped my new CW9 down for the first time. I was pretty upset at the platic shavings left in the frame. I removed the largest ones, lubed as directed and ran 100 flawless rounds through it. Cleaned and repeated until around 200 rounds, tested with various defensive rounds and it is now one of my favorite pistols and is my current warm weather EDC. I completely did not expect to be as impressed as I was with the pistol and never thought it would be a favorite of mine. It now has around 500 rounds through it with ZERO malfunctions. Am now considering a CT380,but 200 rounds for break-in is pretty pricey. Maybe in the future if ammo prices drop.

IMO the 200 rounds is just a guide and I suspect a way for Kahr to cover it's tail. In my case with proper prep all eight of my Kahrs have been reliable from the first shot. They were tight when new and a bit hard to operate, but they all ran perfectly. Also, I have never had a problem slingshotting a Kahr although the factory says not to do so.

I bought a Glock but man...the thing rattles like hell. I took it out of the box and shook it and it just rattled. Glock should have better quality control than to let a gun out of the factory that rattles. I'm going to send it back and insist that they make it so it doesn't rattle. I mean, when the SHTF do I really want someone to know I'm armed by that dreadful rattling noise in my shaking hand? Gimme a break. Their QC sucks. I'm going back to Kahr. I love that their guns are tight out of the box so I can break them in and then have them run as smooth and soft as anyone could imagine. This effin' Glock is just going to get more rattly as time goes on. Of course, I can keep it in mud for 6 months and pull it out and it'll just go bang as usual. Hold on...i need to get more mud for my safe.

Heard back from the lovely folks at Kahr. They're sending me a new CW9 - going to my local FFL dealer where first purchased. Can't come back to me directly since it's new. They test fired about 30 rounds - no issues. They say it's a nice gun all around.
I'm impressed.

I have never met a firearms instructor who didn't recommend a break-in period before carrying and gun for self-defense. The life you lose could be your own. If you are a shooter you'll spend many times the cost of the gun in ammunition.

I'm glad to hear Kahr is taking proper care of you as expected.

I have it back. Haven't fired it yet but it's new and they polished the feed ramp and other little bits here and there. Now, that's customer service.
