I managed to get out today and shoot my new CW9. The gun felt great but I did have a problem. I have 2, 6 round and 2, 7 round magazines, all Kahr. The 6 round magazines worked fine but the 7 round magazines had a problem. Three times the slide locked open on a partial magazine. It happened twice with one of the 7 round magazines and once with the other 7 round magazine. With close observation I noticed that the nose of the round in the magazine was just barely hitting the slide lock and I believe the round being pushed up in the magazine hit the slide lock and locked the slide open. When this happen dropping the slide lock chambered the round without problem and I continued firing. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem?

My CW45 had some problems with the extended 7 round magazine the first time at the range - the 2nd round would not feed. The second range session, it worked just fine without any modifications. All three 6 round mags ran perfectly from the getgo.

I never use extended mags with any pistol. I gave away the Kahr extended mag when I got my PM9 and got two extra standard mags.

Some 380s have had the issue. I believe they sanded off a little of the slide stop so the round would clear it. Naturally, they didnlt take off so much that the mag follower would engage it!!

My P9 Covert ran fine with the extended magazine with the original grip extension but wouldn't lock the slide back when empty. Got an extended magazine with the latest extended grip but haven't had a chance to try it out yet, will post a report when I get to try it.

I'm confused. Is this a CW9 you're shooting? If so, how did it come with a 6-round magazine? Seeing as how they take the 7-round mags, how does a 6-round even work in one?

I'm also confused. Do you mean 7 & 8 round mags for the CW9 or are you really talking about a CM9?
On any case... My then new PM9 would have issues when using the 7 rounder but not with the 6 rounder. Kahr allowed me to trade my 7 rounder for a 6 rounder.

I have a CM9 and a CW9, I also have big hands and use the 8 round mags in both guns. everything works fine. if you need to fill in the empty space on the mag try some o-rings. the long mags might put a little bulge in the t-shirt. there's probably a support group for those offended by some printing.

Made me laugh.

I apologize, I meant the CM9. I had the same idea of taking just a small amount off the slide stop lever where it engages the magazine. I figured worst case I could get a new slide stop lever. I can't believe I used CW instead of CM. I just changed my password at work this morning and used CW in it instead of CM. After I read the replys to this note I realized my mistake there too.

I carry my Kahr CM9 AIWB and have only received admiring glances when printing. Is that a gun you're carrying or are you just happy to see me? :)

For whatever reason some Kahr pistols do not like the extended mags. Use the 7 rounders for range and 6 for ccw.

I solved my problem with the seven round magazine in my cm9. I removed a small amount of material from the slide lock lever. This allows the bullet to be a little forward in the magazine without engaging the slide lock lever and still has no problem engaging the slide lock lever with the magazine follower.
