I put this on the glock forum awhile back but didn't get any help. I noticed this mark on my glock slide it looks like it's from contact with the barrel hood. Are there any experts here who can advise whether this is a problem or not? Thanks! See pic

Never seen anything like that. It may be worth contacting Glock with that pic.

Curious as to how many rounds thru it before the pic was taken?

Go to the Glock forum...............I'm sure that they will tell you that there can't be anything wrong with it.

Assume other than the gouge, everything works fine with your Glock? Looks normal to me, just parts breaking in and likely will go no further. I'd just keep an eye on it.

Doesn't look like a high stress area or anything that would cause an issue. Never seen a gouge in that area.

I'd probably stone it down and touch it up with cold blue or just keep it oiled.

Any corresponding mark or damage on the barrel or whatever is coming in contact with that area?

Looked to me like it could be coming from the right side of the barrel hood (barrel pointed away from the shooter) and I'd take a look to see if there's a bright spot on the hood that's not part of the finish.

As a member in good standing of the Glock forum I can save him the trouble. There's nothing wrong with it.

It shoots fine, And yes the corner of the barrel hood is shiny and has the finish coming off from contact and friction with that massive gouge.

I'd give Glock CS a call.
Maybe Email with pics.
Never seen anything like that...

Send it in for warranty service. My beloved Bersa BP9cc got a gouge on the breech face somehow, so I'm sending it in.

That comes from the barrel to slide contact and likely will go no further. The factory fitter could have take just a bit more off the barrel hood and you would not have experienced that gouge. Maybe your pistol was being fitted on Friday close to quitting time (that was meant to be a joke, no offense intended) just keep an eye on it. As long as you have no other problems with your pistol, it's your call if you decide to return it for servicing.

That was a tongue in cheek poke at the Glockies....sorry you misunderstood.
