Norinco Paratrooper

Picked up this Norinco Paratrooper (shorter barrel) for $200.00. The finish is a bit worn, and the bayonet, cleaning rod and 1 of the butt plate screws are missing. It is a great shooter. Always wanted one of these paratrooper models and could not pass this one up.
Here are some photos.
Anyone know how to interpret the symbols?
Also, anyone know what I would need besides the bayonet itself to add the bayonet?

That's pretty cool! I assume you need some sort of lug affixed to the barrel for the butt of the bayonet to slip onto...?

As b4uqzme point's out, your rifle doesn't have a bayonet lug (http://www.yooperj.com/SKS-4.htm). There are Chinese bolt on lug adapters out there that were made to put SKS folding bayonets on AKs. The adapter could probably be made to work on SKS rifles. There was also a guy making lug adapters: https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=78&t=145125

I've a shortened SKS that was made for Navy Arms. They sold several different versions; mine is a "Cowboy"s Companion":

Either the paratrooper version had no bayonet lug, which I would find reasonable, or the lug was cut off to meet an import restriction. Can't tell from the pics.

Yeah, the lug has been ground off and then some. There was enough lug left on mine to help keep the cleaning rod in place;

If you are handy, you might be able to find a front sight base and bayonet lug to swap out (there's one on gun auctions, but it listed at $99.00):

You know this might all be a moot point, as there's probably not enough room to fold a full length bayonet with the short barrel.

Thanks again, Greg. They do make a bayonet for the paratrooper length; however, it is not worth the money and effort to add a bayonet. I am just very pleased that it is the short length and that it is a fine shooter. Ain't gonna win no beauty contest. I did just get done getting some of the surface rust off the area of the last photo. Looks a lot better now. There are some other areas of surface rust that I may attack one day. In the meantime, it is coated with Breakfree CLP.

My first centerfire rifle was a Cowboy Companion. Looked exactly like yours (finish-wise) except I didn't have the scope. Never could find one while I owned it. It was a great shooting rifle. Sold it for some reason... just another item on the big list of things I wish I hadn't sold.

Took some more surface rust off. It is good to go now. I tore it apart to check under the stock for any rust. None at all. Put 40 more rounds through it yesterday, and I was amazed at it's accuracy.
