I'm still a fairly young guy, and I once tried to read the above movie in its book form. Couldn't get in to it. It ended up coming on the HD movie channel here a couple nights ago, so I DVR'ed it (that means I copied it to a hard drive for later viewing Bawanna :D).
WTF!!! I felt like I was watching a flick produced and directed by David Bowie from a drunken screen play written by Woody Allen (wait, was he ever sober?). Holy what the hell. I feel strangely disconnected from the rest of the world now...
Lets go take some acid and watch that again man! :hippie:

Copied a HD movie to a hard drive, you think you feel strangely disconnected. I don't know that I got a HD or a hard drive? Wait, think this out, your watching tv on your computer that has a hard drive. HD would be Hard Disc, like a DVD which I don't know what that means but I got some, made all my VHS which I don't know what that means either obsolete and worthless. I don't even want to know how to copy a HD to a hard disc. I don't need to know.
I'm getting the hang of this techy stuff though don't ya think? Do they still make acid? Or did meth make that obsolete too?

Dune, like 2001, can't be understood from watching the movie alone. You have to read the books.
Yeah, they dropped way too much acid back then...

+1 for bawanna, Fearless leader and fighter of evil forces....About the movie "Dune"...Didn't see it and don't want to.... I don't understand 99% of the crap hollywood puts out these days....They spend 15 million on special effects and $1.50 on a script....I remember years ago seeing "Day of the Locust" and thinking, what the he!! was that about and did someone really think this movie would be a good idea and I want my money back....Now on the other hand, one of the best movies I have ever seen has no actors at all....I'm talking about "Toy Story 3".... It has a plot, was funny and sad at the same time and really makes you think about life and growing up and has a happy ending...What more can you ask of a movie?....

Dune by Frank Herbert, 1965.
Dune (novel)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dune is a science fiction novel written by Frank Herbert, published in 1965. It won the Hugo Award in 1966, and the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel.[1] Dune is frequently cited as the world's best-selling science fiction novel.[2][3]
Set in the far future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar empire where planetary fiefdoms are controlled by noble houses that owe an allegiance to the Imperial House Corrino, Dune tells the story of young Paul Atreides (the heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides and the scion of House Atreides) as he and his family accept control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the "spice" melange, the most important and valuable substance in the universe. The story explores the complex and multi-layered interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion, as the forces of the Empire confront each other for control of Arrakis and its "spice".[4]
Herbert wrote five sequels to the novel Dune: Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse: Dune. The first novel also inspired a 1984 film adaptation by David Lynch, a 2000 Sci Fi Channel miniseries and its 2003 sequel, computer games, a board game, a song, and a series of prequels, interquels, and sequels that were co-written by Kevin J. Anderson and the author's son, Brian Herbert, starting in 1999.[5]

I read the book around 1970 after 4 years in the Air Force and while in college. You really have to read the book(s) or you're lost. It really sucked when the author Frank Herbert died... the series was terrific. His son and another SCiFi writer took up the series years later and does a good job, but I can only wonder what the rest of the books Frank could have written would be like. He was one of the best, possibly surpassing Heinlein, Norton, and Asimov. JMHO.
Some of my favorites these days are David Weber(#1, I have all of his books and buy the others as they come out), John Ringo(#2, ditto), and Eric Flint.

After a hard night of watering the yard and shopping online, I'm waiting here at my computer and keeping watch for my P380's return. I partially assembled my CD shotgun and loaded it up with 00buck last night, current configuration 5 in the tube, bolt closed on empty chamber. Part of my shopping was for things to hold shotgun shells... bandoliers/belts... one of those thingies to hold shells on the buttstock. I spent a bit of time trying to zero my old laser sight so I could use it as a boresite and check out the sights. they seem centered and I can't wait to try them out with a few rounds of skeet. It's been about 28 years since I shot any skeet, so I'll be luck to hit 10 out of 25, probably.:D

I'm a shrek fan myself but Toy Story was good too.
I can't help but ponder all the things I could fix if I was world dictator. Imagine the possiblilities. They criticized how the monkey fired all the auto execs and bank execs and stuff, give me a chance starting with the monkey hisself. Sure would be a whole lot of open positions in high government.
Sadly I'm not worthy, need to work my way up.

I was looking to see if I had a shooting vest for skeet and ran across some "sci-fi" type stuff in my old A-3 bag... my old checklists from the "cold war". I can neither confirm nor deny....
