I have a cw380 The dealer said to put about 200 rounds through it for a break in period. Have put 400 through it. Lately it (every 10 rounds or so) does not feed a round into the chamber. It does eject the spent round. Shooting Win 95g. Range guy says to put 100g+P through it to aid the slide to work better. Another guy says its a bad magazine. Thoughts?

Is it clean and well lubed? Just a thought.

I wondered the same thing that Alfonse stated. Also, how did it run in the beginning? I wouldn't think that you would need a recoil spring so soon but you never know

Welcome to the forum. Feed problems are usually blamed on mags, ammo, dirty gun, or break in problems. It could be any of those or a combination of a couple. It is hard to pinpoint at times. That is for all auto loaders in gerneral.

I uaually try a few brands of ammo and bullet types for reall stubborn guns. If it happens with several bullet brands and types like RN or JHPs. Then ya may have to look at the magazine feed angle. Of course tweaking the feed angle of the mags might help, but your gun is new. That could void the warranty. I assume you have more than one mag also. If ya don't, ya may want to try another. You did not mention that in your post.

You may want to look caregully at one of the rounds that hung up while shooting. Sometimes you can spot "drag marks," or scrapes on the bullet or brass that indicate any burrs or sharp corners that the rounds could be hanging up on.

Is it a fail to go completely into battery- like a misfeed, or is the slide not picking up the round from the mag?
You may need a hotter round. The recoil springs on these kahrs are stiff....some standard pressure ammo just will not run that slide back.

I think the advice you got on the range is good: try different ammo and a different mag. But the other advice here is valuable too: clean and lube it real good (check the sticky in the new members forum), keep breaking it in, inspect the casings and misfired rounds for marks and clues, (and I'll add) make sure your grip is on its A-game. Those little suckers can be a bear to hold onto...:o

You could have a magazine follower that's hanging up. Disassemble the magazines and clean them. They require no lube and dry they will accumulate less fouling. Check to make sure that the magazine springs are installed correctly and the the followers aren't broken. If all appears well let me know and I'll point you in another direction.

A gun that is extracting properly, but does not feed the next round into the chamber, can be caused by:

1. The mag follower is hanging-up and not pushing the next round up high enough to be picked-up by the reciprocating slide. There have been many reports of Kahr followers getting caught on the magazine catch, causing misfeeds. Inspect the follower for a vertical scratch/gouge on the side of the magazine catch. As mentioned above, an improperly installed mag spring can also cause binding of the follower.

2. The slide is not cycling rearward sufficiently to strip the next round from the magazine. If using factory loads, this is almost ALWAYS caused by the shooter's thumbs which are unknowingly riding the slide, reducing its travel. Sure, using hotter ammo may solve this, but that is treating the symptom, not the problem.

Shooting these tiny sub-compact guns is a lot different than shooting full-size guns. It takes time to modify our habits to adapt to the small platform. It's not easy to establish the firm grip required to allow full reciprocation of the slide, when there is so little real estate to hang on to. Don't get discouraged.

Edited to add: My P380 does not like the Winchester flat-nose bullet. These often jam in the feed ramp. When this happens, the slide does not return to battery. That's not what you described in your post, but if this is indeed the problem, try using a bullet with a round nose. Good luck.

small pocket pistols are sensitive to any kind of dirt/soot. I would make sure the pistol is well cleaned & properly lubed in addition I would disassemble the magazine & clean it inside & out with your favorite gun cleaner, wipe dry and reassemble. Do not use any lube on the mag though.

Get a can of gunscrubber and insert the spray tube into that cleanout hole under the slide to spray out the firing pin channel.
