Is there any benefit to adding XS Big Dot sights to my CW380?

No comments? Anyone ever add XS Big Dot Sights to their Kahr pistol?

^^ Not sure how your thread slipped through unnoticed. I know that several members have added Big Dots to their Kahrs and like them. I'm tritium personally so I cannot speak first hand. But given the small factory sights on the CW380, I bet the Big Dots are an even better improvement...
Go for it.

I didn't respond because I don't have a 380 but I have Big Dots on my PM45, had them on the Glock 21 I just pedaled.
I love them. I'll probably have them on everything sooner or later. No reason they wouldn't be good on a 380 I guess.

My only Kahr, a MK40 Elite, runs factory three dot NS.
I actually love XS Big Dots.
And have them on most of my carry guns.
But for some reason I can't explain?
I prefer the factory three dot NS on my Kahr.
Had Big Dots on my HK45c and hated them.
Switched to Heinie Tactical SlantPro QWIK (which I Love).
And have adjustable Meps on my HK USPT45 (they are to kill for).
For me, sights are personal preference and platform dependent.
Sorry to muddle things up so much - LOL!
BTW really love a Big Dot on the nose of my snubbies!

I'm with Barth. I have Big Dots on an LCR, fantastic. I have them on a PX4, and don't really like them there.
I don't really like the lollipop sights on the Kahr and switched all Kahrs to 3 dot night sights after getting a K9 that came with them. It felt like a target gun compared to my other Kahrs with those sights.
It isn't the sights, it is me. My eyes just don't line things up vertically well with the big dots. I would not have had that issue with my eyes from 20 years ago. I can't explain why they work so well on the LCR. I think the rear sight there works really well with the dot for me.

You guys are right, It's platform dependent. I like FO frt sights on revolvers yet I put one on a High Power and I shoot terrible with it. 3 dot tritium works better for me on most pistols. And it's definitely personal preference...

LOL - I see 20/15 with contacts.
It's not just you - LOL!
There's just something about factory three dot NS on a Kahr.
At least for me.
Personal Preference? For sure!
Platform Dependent? Absolutely!

wow I was thinking of those sites but not so sure now. They just seem so logically better than OE sites. I have heard the front site isn't realy tight on Kahrs and tend to loosen with time. Anyone confirm that?

Not me.
2K plus rounds in 40 S&W (mostly LE).
And my factory sights are tight as when the gun was delivered.

I've got Big Dots on my Glock 27 (6K+ rounds in three calibers), identical twin P2000 357/40s (2K+ each),
P2000SK in two calibers (357/40) 2K+ rounds, and two J-frames with around 2K rounds.
None are loose.
Look up whatever internet drivel you want.
What lame useless gunsmith installed those Big Dots?
I don't mean to be mean.
But there's nothing wrong with Big Dots.
Do I need to say ban me now like Jocko?

My K40 is from 1998 and the sights were still a B**tch to get off when it was time for new tritiums. For me the tritium NS on a Kahr are more precise. That big dot on the front is great for quick acquisition but the 3 dots align quicker and better for me.

Yes, mostly I love Big Dots.
But on on Kahr?
Factory all the way...
To each his or her own.

I have a CW380, so the front site is pinned. How hard is it to remove this pinned site and install new sites, the tritium NS?
I have Big Dot sights on my PM9. They are nice and tight. They have been on the gun for almost a decade (and still glowing strong!). There are pro's and con's to the big dot. It took me a while to get used to them. I normally like to shoot for accuracy. I really liked the post and dot sight that comes standard on my PM9. I could pretty much put the bullet wherever I wanted. However, I wanted a night sight and thought I would go with a Big Dot. I use my PM9 as a CCW. With the Big Dot, I cannot get the precise accuracy as I did with the standard post and dot sights. However, that is not a big deal. After learning the new sight picture with the Big Dot, I can now very quickly place the Dot on my target and hit within a 3 inch circle. That is good enough for CCW. I will take the 2 inch error to gain the quicker target acquisition. Quick target acquisition is the benefit of the Big Dot (as well as night sights during the "twilight" time).
As you can see from the varying responses, sights are really a personal preference. In terms of the fitment and reliability of the sights? There are no issues with the Big Dot sights. They are an excellent choice for a CCW night sight!
Hope this helps.

Thanks WMD. Very helpful information. I think I am going to go with some night sights. http://www.kahr.com/Sights/Kahr-CW380-Night-Sight-Kit.asp
I wonder how difficult it will be to swap out the sights?

I've never messed with a 380 but have done several PM's and a couple MK's.
A couple went pretty easy, a couple were a real bugger. The tough part is getting the old sights out.
Fitting and installing the new is easy by comparison. You can make them fit.
Kimbers are sometimes the same way, almost have to cut em out.
Anybody else ever install 380 sights. Just sending your slide and having them installed is an option too.

Thanks Bawanna. I may send the slide in or take it to my gun smith. I don't want to void any warranty.

If you're decided on Big Dots by all means get them. I have them on a G30 and they are great. However, I had a 380 Colt Mustang years ago and discovered it would never be much of a shoot-out gun. I found point & shoot as accurate as aiming and a lot faster. It's a decent caliber for SD under 15' but for me would be a desparate shot beyond. So consider how well you shoot under 15' (5 yards) now?

One caution though...holster fit. I put the large dot (they do make a small one) on a Glock 27, and upon drawing, it would shave kydex from the Galco. With a Kahr and whatever holster you have, that may not be an issue, but just fyi.
Otherwise, certainly quick to get sight picture, and they don't need to be less accurate when shooting for accuracy.
Interesting.... I use a Don Hume IEB and have zero issues with the big Dot.
If you are planning on replacing the site yourself, you will need a sight press. DO NOT punch out the sites or, try to punch the new sites in. For a couple of reasons....
1 - Kahr sites are really tight. You will damage the slide punching them out.
2 punching in night sites will damage the night site and it will no longer glow.
That being said, there is a really decent site press on ebay you can purchase for $40. It comes with a variety of blocks so you can use it on a number of guns. I bought the press and have used it on my 1911. Have not used it on my Kahr yet, but am confident it will not be a problem.
Hope this helps!
oops! Meant IWB holster. in above post.

or better yet, let kahr do it for u they installed them, they know whats best, spend the extra bucks and do it right, just hip slide regular mail for about 8 bucks and go ouot and have a cold one while ur waiting. Its worth the weight to doit right. Sometimes to save a buck isn't worth it/
I bought my pusher from Brownells about 5 years ago. MaDE BY b & j mACHING iNC. TOTALLY machined pusher. This fokker will push ur car if it gets stuck even. Called the P500 brownell order # 694-000-001. I think I paid back then around 95$ which sounds pricey but it is as professional as u can get and my kahrs are worth that. If u ow a Glock, then just a normal prybar will suffice.
