Very nice review and great video. I carry the 124 gr. HST in all my 9mm's. Didn't know they had come out with the .380. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for doing the review. Disappointed the 380 HST didn't do well, but appreciate the info. Did your CT 380 have any trouble feeding it?

Nope. My CT380 eats everything. Even stuff the P380 chokes on (Fiocchi and Wolf Steel Case).

Thanks. I really do enjoy and get a lot out of viewing your YT vids.
To my mind, Federal HST and Speer Gold Dot are the current go-to choices for carry ammunition in most any handgun caliber.
XTP in my CW.380. Federal HST and Hornady Critical Defense for my short barrel 9mm's. All the above and also Gold Dots for my 4" barrel 9mm.

Informative and not surprised at the 380's performance or lack thereof. Nothing I saw would cause me to change from proven performers Hornady Critical Duty/Defense.

+1. I was really looking forward to the HST in 380, and really disappointed.

Lehigh and Underwood seem to be great options for the 380s. Sucks they are pricey. $27+ for 20 rounds :(

Ballistics Gel tells very little of the real story. Until they are documented in autopsy reports they are a gimmick. YouTube videos are so easily manipulated and made into outright lies they have virtually nil credibility with many folks. The G2 RIP ammo looked promising in YouTube vids until they were outted using non-standard gel and non-standard testing criteria. In the video it appears they are relying only on penetration and I saw NO expansion at all.

I don't think it's supposed to expand. If you watch it he says it doesn't over penetrate and creates a bigger wound cavity. Obviously it's the intrawebs and anybody can make the outcome favorable in the way they want. Who knows if he's telling the truth. You won't really know until you do your own testing.
I would personally like to test it myself for my own info

Endless 380 ammo debate.
1. I highly doubt STBs tests are manipulated to favor one round versus another; they are what they are
2. I value penetration more than expansion and, as evidenced by ballistic testing, many 380 hollow points have questionable penetration although Hornady's XTP bullet seems to perform better than most hollow points
3. The Lehigh XP is a solid copper bullet with a flat nose and machined grooves; in ballistic gel it penetrates well but doesn't over penetrate as the flat nose and machined grooves provide more resistance and create a larger wound channel
4. People will argue that ballistic gel isn't a human body, and they're right, but it is the standard by which objective ballistic testing is done
At the end of the day only you can choose what ammo you want to carry.

That stuff feeds OK? I gotta think the combination of that bullet shape and a Kahr 380 feed ramp wouldn't play well together.
Get well muggsy!
Speaking of muggsy...I think this is where he would recommend you shoot FMJ in your .380 for SD.

I havent tried them yet. Was going to order a box and see how it goes. So far my CW380 has 200+ rounds with no feeding issues

Lehigh XP fed ok in my CW380 meaning no jams but I had occasional failures to return to battery with that ammo and several others.

Might want to try the drop test to make sure it fits in the chamber ok too.

My only 9mm runs Federal HST 147 gr +P.
In 9mm Mak or .380?
Hornady XTP bullets are used by a variety of ammo manufacturers.
Don't know how they perform on the street?
But they seem to test well.
HST and GDHP not so much...
