In the spirit of assisting those who have even less patience than I: ;)
Someone took a little dig at my (mine runs fine) signature the other day. Justified if I say so myself. But I think that my CM45 runs fine based on some realistic expectations.
I didn't expect it to be absolutely flawless out of the box. I used the break in for what was intended: to break in the pistol. It has been flawless for the last 300+ rounds though.
I didn't expect it to be as smooth as my 15+ year old K40 right out of the box either. But I can say that within 600 rounds everything is smoothing out and marrying up just fine. The trigger feels good...the slide slides good......This is a keeper.
Thanks!

Instant gratification, and lack of patience seems to permeate our society more than ever. WE all know, that when you take a whole mess of mechanical parts and actions, add in miniature explosions, and put them in a very small package, malfunctions are bound to happen. WE also know that from the Highpoints to the Kimber's, they all have issues from time to time. I must say, that the only firearm I have ever had a malfunction with, was a Kahr, but, in the whole scheme of things, a minute issue. I would suggest to some, that if they want a 100% failsafe firearm, they are looking for the holy grail. If you absolutely cannot deal with mechanical issues, don't purchase a small firearm. Your odds of malfunction go up, as the size goes down. It's not such a bad thing, to get to know your firearm, through a malfunction. This firearm thing is a constant learning curve, and the more you purchase or shoot, the more knowledge you receive, and in return, hopefully, a bit more patience. Then, there are some, that just don't read the instructions:p

Not necessarily instant gratification, but I don't expect to break followers with a new gun......

I broke my second in my PMJ9 with over 32K runds thru it. I sent it back to kahr as I could have done the ramp job myself but I have a new G43 glock that I am breaking in, so I figured let kahr do it, they made it. I got it back today, 6 days total time. outstanding service. Feed ramp looks like a mirror even and I can see the work they did to the ramp to. Very ice and neat. I really feel what bettertqab one says is about right. these small ass gun can be tempermental. Just no room for any maching error. It happens , no one likes it when it happens to them. Once u get the bugs out of youyr gun, no matter what brand, u will cuddle up to it nicely. These gun forums are mostly a place foran owner to vent. Most who have zero issues don't even care about these forums. We expect perfection so why should a new owner with no issues even comne here and say mine is perfect etc, yea we know. This forum is here to help, many times the help can prevent a gun from going back. Most of us here have walked in the shoes of every fokkig issue ever mentionsed about kahrs, so most of the guys here know when to just say, BOX IT UP AND SEND IT BACK, and many here have the in house fix. Patience is golden u very seldom ever hear of anyone having an issue with the K or T sweries kahrs, reason bein IMO is big gun, lots of room for things tohappenb correctly. Hell Glock is bragging about their super small G43 and it is small by Glocks standards but it is a full inch lonbger than ol jocko's PMJ9 and mine weighs loaded as much as the G43 weights empty, but stillit will sell like hotcakes cause it is a glock ad they have a loyal buncyh of followers. I really like my G43 that I just have had a few weeks. I sent it off to Mag na port toda to port the fokker. Have Dawson fiber optic sights coming for it and ordered a Taran tactical.extension 1 and 2 shot base plate extension. This wll be the wifes gun, as she can shoot it good already and can do all the necessary racking, unracking, clearing etc sh!t of which she could never do with my PMJ9. A happy wife extends a mans life longer. Just sayin

Your point about these small ass guns being temperamental I can understand. I realize there is a lot of pressure and power in my CM40. I sometimes wonder why they are designed like they are. Maybe what the consumers want? A small gun with a powerful caliber? I am not used to the issues that I have had with my Kahr. My Springfield and Glock have always gone boom. Maybe my expectations are too high?

You can run into these issues, not only with the smaller Kahr's, but with the expensive 3" barreled 1911's, and any other 3" barreled firearm also..................any small firearm can be a work in progress. If I didn't have to conceal my firearm, you can be sure that I would be carrying something a lot larger in size and caliber, on my belt, on the outside. Since it currently isn't an option, I have to go small, and there is always a tradeoff for going small, as far as reliability. You can always go small revolver, and not have to worry about reliability. I'm still looking for the perfect gun...........................aren't we all.

Maybe. But there's nothing wrong with expecting perfection...just have a little patience and understanding getting there. That's what I mean by realistic. Very few of us have the experience and knowledge of an Ol' Jocko. When we express our impatience, we are really just broadcasting our ignorance. IMHO. TIFWIW.

My Ruger .45 never had a hiccup except for not liking 185 grain until about 500 rounds through it. My PM45 had the issue with every third round in a full magazine failing to load. After polishing the feed ramp area it has been flawless and fun. I like the fact that I can carry a .45 concealed. I could also with the Ruger but much easier to print and a lot heavier to carry.

It's reasonable to expect that a brand new firearm will not immediately need a trip back to the manufacturer.

Ahh..but it IS reasonable to expect that some might. And unreasonable to expect that none will.

My glock dealer who sold me my G43 said, u will like this far better than the G42. I didn't ask anymore. I did the ol jocko prep on my G43 also. I wanted to know I did my part. 150 rounds later, no complaints, wife likes it even more..
