Personally, I would stay away from anything except for revolvers from that co.............I've heard that they have gotten better over the years, but I wouldn't bet my life on it:o

I like it. I want a tip up barrel gun. I would trade my Cobra CA32 for it!

Beretta design, Taurus bought their machinery for several semi-autos.

Only PT92's and PT99's............................................ ..............designs can be similar, but not exact, and that's where the problem lies. A Taurus PT92 will never be a Beretta 92fs. A Taurus 1911 will never be anything without $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$work. Their revolvers are ok, but they're not S&W or Ruger. The firearm your looking at is probably fine, as long as you don't use it a lot.:o

Okay, let me split the difference here. I have a Beretta 21A and have shot the PT22 several times.
Berretta, NICE fit and finish and reliable (if you download the mag by one round). It was pricey though...

PT22 was okay looking (sharper corners, looser fit and a thin flat finish that was "blue-ish") but it was cheap(er) and it did go bang with every trigger pull.

Shrug... It's only about what's important to you.

My local Academy store has them on one of their "hot deals" sales at $179.00. Basically a copy of a Beretta Tomcat 21a.

As has been mentioned, that is a copy of the Beretta .22. A friend has the Beretta .22, and it's a bit of a troublesome gun, it jams quite a bit. Probably an ammo related thing, find out which ammo it likes and stick with that. The tip up barrel is a nice feature for those that can't rack the slide. I found out if you cock the hammer first, then the slide racked much easier, on my .32 Tomcat.

If you guys like the tip up barrel design of the Taurus PT22 the consider a much better option, the Berreta Tomcat 3032. Same size & appearance, except in a more usuable .32 caliber. It's still available from Berreta and they also make a all stainless steel version called the 3032 Inox.

Think Beretta.

My beretta 21a likes CCI mini mags and that only. Everything else jams. Guess that speaks to the quality of CCI ammo.

Always liked the tip up barrel design. Was kinda sad to see the single action ones go away with the Bobcat DA introduction. I had Minx and Jetfire way back in the day when .25 ACP was considered kinda acceptable for pocket carry. Jetfires long gone now but I still have the Minx. Minx is a damn fine, reliable, and accurate short range .22 Short pocket plinker.

I have a PT22 that I purchased used, and it runs great (100%) on CCI Blazer. It also has a lifetime warranty, even to subsequent purchaser. In other words, the warranty goes with the gun, and I think this may still be the case. You may want to check with Taurus on that. I used the warranty when the plastic buffer broke and they sent me a free one. I experienced great customer service.
The pistol is accurate for its size. The trigger pull is heavy. No regrets whatsoever about this pistol. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't be buying it. I'd be trading my marlin xt-22 rifle for it. I'm just wondering if it's a good trade

If the Marlin isn't junk, keep the Marlin...............................

Marlin xt 22 is a bolt action rifle, with an adjustable trigger that you can set down to like 3lbs. Its supposed to be more accurate than a 10/22 out of the box, but I would rather have a pistol than a rifle
