Anyone else stoked for this new movie coming out Thursday? I already have tickets for Saturday. Road Warrior is one of my all-time favorite movies and this one may even be better. I can't wait to see it. I've watched every trailer so far and it keeps me wanting more. Fast cars, guns, women in skimpy clothes, and non-stop action, what more could you want in a movie, did I mention women in skimpy clothes?

I think the last movie I saw in a theater was "The Incredibles" with my grandson. Gotta be honest, I think I enjoyed it more than he did!

My last time at teh theater was for Aliens and cowboys, all by myself at an afternoon matinee. There were about 3 elderly couples there too. I had fun!

None of my friends are interested.
But I do go for the apocalyptic fare.
It's a guilty pleasure.
I'll see it for sure - LOL!

I watch almost all of my movies by DVD rentals now. A whole lot less expensive and no one kicking the back of my chair.

I visit a local theater that has reclining lounge seats like a La-Z-Boy. Very comfortable and nobody kicks your seat. It also has a bar, but I bought a shot of single malt scotch once and it was nearly $10.00. A large refillable popcorn and soda is over $10.00 now. Ridiculous. I used to go to more movies than I do now, but I have to see this one in the theater, just like I would the new Star Wars movie when it comes out.

The wife & I go to geezer matinees once in a while - when the local schools are in session - usually no more than a dozen people in the theater. Last film we ssaw was American Sniper. Pretty good entertainment, but a sad ending.

We liked that movie too. The timing wasn't great as the son had just left for boot camp about that time, it was mom's idea to go, I'm a wait till the DVD comes out kind of guy myself but she insisted.

I'll watch it mainly for Cherlize Theron. Plus, I could use a two hour vacation from real life. Early reviews say it's pretty good. But then they usually do. I'll wait a week and sneak into a matinee.

I miss Blockbuster. I used to rent the movies and copy them to watch later. Now I just use pay to view once in a while... get coupons or freebees now and then.

I like watching the shows at home on my big screen... just a 58" Samsung Plasma, but the best TV available when I bought it about 5 years ago. If it ever breaks, I'll have to see how big and fast a screen I can get... seeing 85" ones now, but wonder about the refresh rate. Mine's 600Hz... a real 600 Hz, but they're not making plasma TV's anymore.

The darn theaters don't have a "pause" button for when I have to get up for something... though I did watch Guardians of The Universe without break last week... for "free" off my DVR. Wifey even liked it!

It's hard to believe the difference in Charlize nowadays compared to her plus-sized body in Monster.

Wynn :)

Remember when we all thought the 42" plasma TVs were gargantuan? Now they are regarded as "smaller" screens.

We have 3 of them around the house (living room, bedroom, man cave). I'd like to get at least a new 50"er for the living room, but Mrs. Brat thinks her 6 year old 42" 720p Panasonic is big enough.

That's the only place to see Rocky Horror. Seen it in a video store a few years back on DVD and tried to tell my wife about. She had never seen it and said, "Let's rent it!" I told her no way, no how. This is one movie you have to see in the theater, though I never was one of those who got up there and acted out the scenes.

Ahhh, good times...

and more than a few brews each time I've seen it.

I dumped my 27" Sony, the ones that weigh 75 lbs, for a Sanyo 50" last October. Beautiful tv. But for a measly $100 more, I could have gotten a 58" Sanyo. Can't do that now. Can never be big enough....she said.

Watched Mad Max Fury Road today.
Sadly it's a stinker.
As for TVs?
I've got a 60" Visio HD bolted to my wall (@ ~$849).
Plus 200+ HD satellite channels including NFL Network and Red Zone.
Life is good...

We have TWC - about 400 zillion channels. Maybe 3 or 4 of those are worth watching (via DVR to FF through ads).... sometimes.

I saw this on opening night and was also somewhat disappointed as well. I was so looking forward to this being a very, very good movie and it isn't bad, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

I guess I'm the only one that enjoyed the movie. It wasn't a work of art, but it was what it was supposed to be... It was action packed and entertaining. It also has a 92% (which is rare) on RottenTomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mad_max_fury_road/) from 50,215 moviegoers, and 98% from 234 professional movie critics. It even beat out the Avengers and Furious 7, both of which I didn't think were all that bad.

I'm just curious what the ages are of the people who thought the movie stunk, and what fairly recent comparable non superhero action movie you all would recommend as being good?

There hasn't been a good movie put out in the last 20 years......................................same old stuff remanufactured. Save your money for bullets, or wait till it's on tv.........................

Ha, I know Hollywood should thank their lucky stars that the people on this forum aren't movie critics lol. Tough crowd here :). Off the top of my head, Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump were kind of original and pretty good movies.

Was it better than "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome"? If so I'd be happy with it.

DanTana

The Tman,

Yes, it is better than Thunderdome, and maybe about a tie with Mad Max, but no where near Road Warrior. I expected it to exceed that movie. It is a good movie, just not a great movie.

Hard to believe. Scantily clad women make up for a lot. I'll still have to watch it though, but I ain't payin for it.

The hottest girl in the movie, a current Victoria's Secret model, is portrayed as majorly pregnant.
And dies about half through the show.
Much like the rest of the movie...

Believe it.
