New to me k9 that was per kahr built aug 2005. So it should be new style. The frame Is black and the original case indicate it should be black as well. Problem is the slide is silver and it's the old style. I know kahr never sold them this way so somewhere down the line it got switched out. Is an old style slide compatible with the new style frame?
I haven't shot it yet, but racking it it seems to sort of catch in places my pm's and my dads k40 do not.
Any insight appreciated.

The catch is your slide release.

I have nothing to add to your question but that is one beautiful firearm.

There is not much odd about a "Old" style slide being on a "new" style frame. The frame was changed long before the slide. What is odd is the color scheme. This appears to me to be an aftermarket frame coating, (look at the trigger which is a different color), done to just the frame for a different look than the normal factory two tone, which was always reversed to my knowledge.
Both Wilson and Cylinder and Slide produced some customized models around this time but your K9 is not one of them. Does the box label serial number match the gun? What is the model designation if so?
When you say it is an old style slide, you are referring to the rear sight dove tail cut - correct? Have you compared it to the Kahr web site description?

The serial number on the box matches the gun and does indicate that it should be black.
Yes referring to the dove tail cut, it does not have the dimple next to the striker channel.
Cjb, are you saying I need to replace the slide release and or springs associated with it? Or is it just something the k9 does? This is the first one I've ever handled.

You might want to withdraw the slide release, such that the pin stays in the frame and barrel underlug. Manipulate the slide to confirm that the action is considerably smoother. If the confirmation is affirmative, then explore how the slide release intereacts with the cutout on the frame. Tweak spring as needed.
If the slide stop is not the cause... then you'll need to explore other possibilities. Check out the trigger bar's action against the disconnector cut in the slide. Check the barrel hood at its front ledge for peening. I think you'll find its the slide stop though.

I'll give it a try CJB, thank you.
As far as the trigger color is concerned, thats just the flash and the angle. It matches the frame.

There is some wear on the front hood of the barrel. The catching that I'm feeling looks like it is from the cut out on the slide for the trigger bar. How the heck do I fix that?

I think he is referring to the fact that it has the old style flat nose like my 2002 P9 and not contoured.

Read #5 many times now. No mention of a flat or contoured nose only serial numbers, dove tail cuts, dimples and slide releases. What am I missing?
