View Full Version : CW380 won't chamber a round at all

Ok, after reading the stickies and cleaning A's lubing my brand new cw380 I tried to load the chamber by using the slide release. It fails to go into battery with the different 380 bullets. Perfecta ball, pmc ball, and for laughs Critical defense. Looks like the ramp needs to be cut and smoothed. Polishing won't fix this. Any recommendations? If I smack the rear of the slide it will go into battery. I know these require break in but this is poor qc if this is normal

Call Kahr Service and explain the problem to them. They handle QC problems of all types. Your gun was supposed to be test fired and should have function properly before it left the factory. There are any number of reasons that a gun's slide might fail to return to battery. Save yourself a lot of time, money, ammo, aggravation and frustration by letting the armors at Kahr fix the problem. Of course, if you put a few rounds through it the problem may just resolve itself. Kahr suggests a two hundred round break-in.

Try this first before you bug Kahr Service. Disassemble the gun to remove the recoil spring assembly.

Put some automotive chassis grease on the recoil springs. Make sure it gets between the springs good. Reassemble the gun. Load the magazine 1 bullet short of capacity. This relaxes the upward pressure from the bullets pressing on the bottom of the slide and lets the slide move forward more freely. Try your test again. The problem will be resolved.

You would be surprised about how much friction is between the double recoil spring assembly and how much friction there is on the bottom of the slide with a maximum loaded magazine. If this resolves your problem post the results.

Thank you for the advice. Kahr owners have to be the most patient owners in the gun world. Even high points work out of the box! Well, I guess I will send it off....

Lol, “bug" kahr service. You act like they are doing kahr owners a favor. Why don't they state these pistols are 90 percent ready and the owner has to break it in and minor fitting to work. Lol

Have you fired this gun yet?

Yes, but never consecutively. It is a single shot pistol

Sell it and buy a Hi Point. I think you'll be happier.

you can buy 2 Hi Points for the price of the cheapest Kahr, and I bet they will shoot straight and consistently right out of the box. They are a bit large heavy, but they work.

Just out of curiosity, Rick, did you try to chamber a round before you field stripped, cleaned and reassembled the gun? I know that it might seem outrageous to suggest that the gun may be failing to go into full battery due to an operator error, but that's what I'm suggesting. You wouldn't be the first and won't be the last to make such an error.

I see you are the resident apologist who has seen it all...... Can't someone vent about something without you calling them out? I see you do that post after post. I guess everyone has to do something to make themselves feel better. You choose to police the Kahr forums.

Some of the smartest too......................................you would be wise instead of fighting the issue, listen and learn...................you'd be surprised at how many first time owners think they have a clue, until they purchase a Kahr. They are a different animal, and sometimes need a bit of love and understanding. Your not the first, and won't be the last. I like the suggestion of purchasing a Highpoint. If you come on this site and begin to piss and moan immediately, you won't get much help. Take a chill pill.............................................. ...

Thanks, Bone. That's my thinking exactly. A guest who craps on your living room floor deserves to be uninvited. If he's so smart let him figure it out. It doesn't sound like he needs our help.

I'm not the one who came to this forum with an attitude. Do you want to vent or would you like our help?

Kahrs are a different animal being that some work and some don't.
rick1000, best bet is to let Kahr fix it on their dime.
Other advice is to ignore Muggsy - aka Mr know it all

Yeah, actually, he should go to the Glock forum, or the CPX forum, or the "they never had an issue with a Shield" S&W forum...................they'll be happy to help.

Contrary to popular belief I don't know it all and I try learn something new every day. My father was a gunsmith and custom stock maker who started me into the shooting sports at the age of eight. Every spare moment that I had was spent at his side and while I don't know it all I know quite a bit. I became a life member of the NRA when I left military service in 1971. I don't have to help anyone, but I'll try to help everyone who is having a problem with their gun. All that I ask is that when they come to this forum that they behave in a civil manner. Juveniles vent there anger. Adults seek solutions to problems. I hope we all now better understand one another.

Wow I thought I had a pretty fine tuned ugly meter, just had it calibrated but it totally missed this thread.

Muggs has had a chance to make a rebuttal and it's a fine one in my humble opinion.

I don't see this thread going anywhere productively and actually should have exploded on the launch pad, negligence on my part to be sure.

So as Roy and Dale ride off into the sunset we bid this mud throwing personal attacking thread adieu.

Jocko, that mean syanara, adios, arivadashy, kaput. bye bye.
