View Full Version : Finally picked up a PM9

Picked up a used PM9 at a pawn shop last week. Came with a 6 and a 7 round mag. The 7 rounder has a bent
follower and won't go down past 2 rounds. Course, all my CM9 mags work with it. Put A box of Hornady 115gr FTX,
Hornady 147 gr XTP and a box of Speer 147gr Gold Dot thru it today. Shot all 3 with zero malfunctions and all 3
were easily a carry round but it seemed to like the 147 gr XTP Hornady's the best. Shot the tightest groups with
it. My wife had claimed my CM9 leaving me with an equally small but heavier SIG P290RS. Don't get me wrong,
the P290RS is one great little pistol and the weight gives it great control for rapid follow up shots, but for EDC
regardless of the weather or dress, the CM9 and now the PM9 can't be beat IMHO. :)

Thanks for the report. It is difficult here to find good prices on used Kahr's.

I've thought about that P290RS, but I think the weight would be a deal breaker, I pocket carry my CM40, and that's heavy enough.

I also bought a used PM9 a few months ago, now my favorite. Eats anything, and I can shoot it left handed, so it's a great back up.

Good to hear. My (now wife's) CM9 is that way and I fully expect the PM9 to be too.

Hard to find around here until recently. Some folks are selling their PM9's to get the Glock 43. Now, I like Glocks, but that's
a whole lot like selling a 2 year old Mercedes to buy a new unproven Chevy if you ask me. Oh well, their loss was my gain.
That's how I got mine. It was traded in on a new G43. Took the follower out of a 6 rounder and put it in the 7 rounder with
the bad follower. Works fine now.

I could never understand trading a PM9 for a G43 either and i like your description of that kind of trade.

Hey, what area of east TN are you in? I grew up in middle TN and would love to get some East TN property and move back one day. Any cheap land up your way?

I live on the edge of the Plateau and land is ridiculously high. Seems folks from Knoxville and Oak Ridge are looking for peace and quiet so they're
buying up every piece of property they can get their rich little hands on so they can ruin the peace and quiet around here. Last piece of property
I sold was several years ago, mostly swamp and all woods, no road into it and I got 9K an acre for 4.5 acres. Funny thing is, I was feeling bad about
asking 4K an acre and when they offered 9K right off the bat, I took it. Last I heard, they were still fighting with the surrounding land owners to get
a road in so they can build. You can get land in town cheaper than out in the country around here. I have 28 acres of pure heaven.
This my place. Driveway is 1/3 of a mile. This just shows the last part before getting home:

This is one of my ponds. I have a small one closer to the house but this is my favorite: Covers about 3 acres total.

Another shot of my driveway from one of my deer cams: That's my little Miata MX5. Love that car :D

Oh well, if you get the chance to buy property around here now, I'd do it if I was serious about moving someday.
With more and more babyboomers wanting to retire out of the city, land is only going to go up.

Hey, i recognize those pictures. I either asked you about it here on Kahrtalk last year or over on the M14 forum if you're on that one. Seems like i remember you having a cute dog too. Anyway, that's a real nice place.

Yeh, that's me. I have a M1A Scout Squad that I love. Buddy's still around. He's 13 now and it shows around his eyes. It's gonna kill me
when he passes. Since I retired a couple years ago, he think we're joined at the hip. It's a lot of work keeping the place up and looking like
a State Park as a lot of my friends call it but I love to keep it up and will do so until I can't.
Here's Buddy at the pond and my M1A.

Me like too very much! Been on my want list for many years. That's a really nice one, good wood and next to a nice 1911.

Picture my britches sticking out in front.

All that work to keep up I better come on down and lend a hand. 28 acres ought to be enough room for a little house on the opposite corner so we don't crowd each other.

I could be your ranch hand.

Trouble is, the opposite corner is where my big pond is. Appreciate the kind offer but I'll have to decline at this time. :o
The 1911A1 is a Govt Issue, US Army and the S# puts in made in 1942. All original and still shoots pretty dang good.
Not like my Kimber Master Carry Custom but it's exactly like the one I carried in Vietnam. Got a real soft spot in my
heart for that 1911A1. Daughter has instructions that it is never to leave our family. It's to be past on generation after
generation. Same with the M1A Scout Squad. It's not the M14 I carried in Nam but it's the best I can do at this time.
I like the wood better than synthetic plus it's closer to the real thing.
Thanks,
Dano

Can't say as I blame you. Got some friend and relatives that stop by now and them. I swear they come to relax and take in the
scenery and wildlife more than to visit with us but they won't admit to it. Wild life like this:

Looks familiar. I had a Bushnell TRS-25 on mine but opted for the Leupold FX-II Scout Scope and really like it. The Bushnell is on my
Marlin 336C using an XS 336 Scout rail.

I too have a 1942 1911 that I cherish very much and it still shoots just fine too.

I have to full auto M14's at work we use for parade rifles but they function extremely well at the range too.
I refinished the stocks and put clear coat on them to look pretty but have spare stocks I throw on when we get to play.

Course I can't take them home, we affectionately refer to them as Thelma and Louise.

I want a Scout Squad for here at home.

I got a good deal on this one a few years back. Had a DPMS AR that I bought from a LEO friend of mine going thru
a divorce. I'd had it a couple years and never shot it it. Never cared for the M16. Anyway, Another LEO acquaintance
had this Scout but had become enamored with the idea the AR was a better weapon for Law Enforcement needs and
wanted one bad enough to trade me even. Again, a case of trading a Mercedes for a Chevy; something I'll never understand.
Anyway, I was more than glad to trade. It's everything my M14 but in a shorter package.

WOW.. looks like you are living the dream. :D So what kind of fish you got stocked in them ponds?

I put a couple hundred each of Blue Gill and Catfish in it nearly every year and a couple hundred Bigmouth Bass every other year for a few
years. Now I just keep them fed and keep the neighbors kids out. 15 or 20 Grass Carp to keep the algae and grass growth down helps a
lot too.
A lot of my friends tell me I'm living their dream and I guess I am. Only thing I'm lacking is for my wife to retire and that's coming up next
year. ;)
