I got this gun used in a trade, the gentleman I got it from says he had no problem with the slide locking back with rounds still in the magazine, I have ran 150 rounds through it since getting it and it is doing this on and off during fire, one mag of 7 did it 4 times.
Be it this is a discontinued model I'm sure khar is not going to fix this without me paying so that is not an option I want to explore, after cleaning it today after my 100 round range trip , I noticed that the bullet head is contacting the slide lock , I'm going to assume this is causing the slide to lock with rounds in the mag.
my question is , can I just take some material off that part of the slide lock and be good?
I thought I was bumping the slide lock with my thumb so I made sure my thumb was no where near the lock and it still did it, it also did it to my buddy as well.

Disregard, I shortened the part that the mag follower contacts on the slide lock and now the rounds are not touching it, what was happening is some of the rounds were moving forward under recoil I guess the. When they popped up they brought the lock up with them, few minutes with a dremel and even when I push the round forward out of the mag (while it's in a slide less gun ) they do not contact the slide lock, will test fire and post what happens .

Glad you solved it. I think it's pretty normal for that top round to slide forward a tad. That's good for us to know when diagnosing similar problems. Thanks.

Thanks for replying B4, does anyone know if the K9 slide lock will work with my E9? I would like to have a stainless lock but do not know if it will work with the E9's frame, I was also wondering if the K9 slide will fit the E9 frame and if my E9 internals will work in the K9 frame??

Yes the K9 slide will fit the E-9 frame, I sent my Mar97 build E-9 to Kahr to have dovetails cut in the slide for night sights. They contacted me and told me that it would be no more expensive to just install a K-9 slide, so I have a E-9/K-9 mutant. black steel frame-stainless slide, btw they just swapped out all the internals in the E-9 slide into the new slide, and they replaced the mag catch- N/C I also installed the soft rubber grips. From what I understand the parts from a K-9 will fit in a E-9 frame, but there may be a problem with some trigger bars and pins due to some of the frames were scalloped and some were not, ans some of the earlier E-9 pistols reportedly had different trigger bars. Hope this helps

It did help sir, thank you for replying, I want the better sights too that's another reason I was inquiring about the slide.

Update: since working on the slide stop I accomplished nothing, I did manage to take too much off so now my mags do not lock the slide open on empty, that's funny because the issue with the rounds hitting the slide stop is still here, I ran 50 rounds through the gun today and it is still happening, the rounds are have out of the mag when the next one pops up so they are contacting the stop still, I'm beginning to get annoyed with this pistol now.
Does anyone know if any design changes were mad to the K9 slide stop? I'm going to order a stainless slide stop for my E9 and hope that solves the problem, i do not believe that the previous owner did not have this same problem, it's happening way to often!!!

Bought a MK9 that had the same problem. Paid $352 in Dec, 2011, it looked like new, was mfg in 1997. Think I got the deal because they felt guilty selling a pistol that didn't work. Fixed it with a new slide stop from Kahr. Didn't feel guilty at all selling it for $500. Have an E9 that has broken the slide stop twice, first at 325rds and again after 1000rds. Kahr sent a replacement both times. First time was 8/05, this last time was 9/14. I believe I got a K9 part this time as E9's are discontinued. Never a problem with the slide locking back prematurely though. I'll note that the E9 is my edc. Good shooting.

I had same problem with CT 380. The next advancing bullet would lift up the slide lock and lock it back with ammo still in the mag.
I got the answer form a guy named Lefty60 on another forum-
The fix:
Remove the slide lock lever- paint the part that contacts the bullet with a magic marker
Put slide lock back in and re-assemble- insert a loaded mag and hand cycle about 3 or 4 rounds- be sure to not empty the mag- else the follower will mark it.
Remove again and look for wear mark- file lightly- repeat until there are no marks on lever.
I wound up removing .012" from mine. Now, no more pre-mature slide locks.
edit: It took about 4 repeats to fix.
edit 2: File lightly where the bullet makes a mark....just a little.

Another thing....
If you get this worked out for say 115 gr ammo......just remember if 124 or 147 is a little longer or fatter....the problem may re-appear while shooting the bigger ammo.
I did the fix on mine (380) while using 95 gr fmj. Now mine works fine with 90 jhp or 95 fmj. But, on 100 gr fmj -I still get a few slide locks. I just don't buy 100 gr anymore.
