Things have been kind of dead around here lately, so.......................................You ever lose anything????????????? I did................lost my d@^n Buck pocket knife. I hate that, because growing up, we didn't have a lot of denaro, so I never lost anything and kept tabs on everything. So when I lose something, it affects me deeply:o I usually use them for cutting small pieces of wood, cutting rope, cleaning under fingernails, etc. Found it's cheap replacement................cheap because this is the second pocket knife that I have lost in 3 years. Rough Rider " Midnight Swirl" one locking blade, 440 steel blade, razor sharp, Made in China.$8 to my door. Now, I know that there are some knife aficionado's, I won't mention their names, who would probably not even keep one of these in their drawer. Made in U.S.A. is always better, but I couldn't resist for the price. IT IS SHARP!!!!!!!!! I'm happy, some Chinese are happy, some American's probably aren't, but I drive a Made in America foreign car, so.......................

That's a beautiful knife and if I stumbled on it for 8 bucks I'd grab me up one too. Seriously. Very nice.
I really like traditional folder knives, just like em, no idea why even but I can't keep anything in my pockets being a full time sitter so all my folders live in my special drawer. I have one expensive one and a whole pile of cheap ones but still like em all the same.
I still generally don't lose much but I sometimes forget where I put em. Just yesterday for some reason I wanted to fondle my little Savage 17HMR bolt rifle, used to have it on top of a display case but remembered I'd put it in the safe, weren't there, weren't leaned in any of the corners, not in the other case. I'm like this don't happen to me...............
Finally found out I'd hung it on a wall rack behind the door with 8 or 9 others, plumb forgot I put it there.
I also lost a nice little Kershaw folder, gone for 2 or 3 years. Somehow a small bass we tried to throw back but dropped fell down and got under the floor boards of my little boat. Well after a while it got pretty ripe, so I had to park the boat on a hill and start throwing the water to it, ended up pulling a section of floor up. Got the stinky little bass out but the gift of the day is I found that little Kershaw too!!!!! Still keep it in my little front bag. Sharpens good, stays sharp, right handy little knife.

Those little Kershaw's are good knives...........................If I used it for protection, or other harder jobs, I'd definitely have something better. If I'm going to keep losing them, I might as well have something cheaper. It really is a pretty good knife for China.............................I'm hoping the other one turns up sometime..........funny how knives stay sharp or get sharper, and our brains get duller and duller, without many ways of sharpening them:o

I finished up a new knife last week. I didn't really make it, since I bought the blade and just put the handle on it. But I think it turned out pretty nice. I'll get some pictures of some that I've made and post them next week when I'm back home. Traveling this week for work.

Here's my latest. It's a damascus blade with a walnut handle. I have done a couple of knives in the Finnish "puukko" style. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Very nice. Looks plumb handy. We must think similar thoughts, most knives you see have big long blades, hard to find them with a decent useable blade but also with a nice comfortable grip.
I like bowie knives, ok I love bowie knives but a guy needs a small knife to compliment it for smaller task.
What you made there is ideal. Well done.

I carried a smallish Buck folding knife that locked back for many years. Served with me on a few boats while I was in the Navy until one day it decided to go UA (AWOL for you non-Navy folks). Replaced it with a little two blade Case that so sharp it was scary. Held it edge better than any knife I've ever had. Ended up losing that and replaced it with a twin. Lost that one and replaced it with another Case, a single blade called an Arkansas toothpick. Immediately after buying the third Case, I found the second one in the passenger seat. About a week later I found the first one deep down in the recliner.
I've since lost the first one and now carry the second one. The third one is in it's box...ummm...somewhere in the house...I think.

That's the best way for me to find stuff, go buy a replacement and you'll find em every time.
Case does make some really nice knives.

AJBert, when you decide to scrap your old recliner let me know and I'll haul it off for you. Hee Hee. :behindsofa:
I also lose things all the time, especially my cell phone. My wife usually has to call it so I can trace it down. It has been found in some of the oddest places.
I also once lost my head. Finally found it up my a$$. Now I keep it screwed on all the time.

Au contrare weedhopper, nothing finer than pattern welded steel to my eye. If it had a antler or bone handle on it my britches would be sticking out in front.

Stainless with spalted tamarind handle with buffalo horn and a red spacer:

Stainless (110mm, approx 4 3/8") blade, Myrtlewood handle, brass

Damascus, buffalo horn, nickel silver bolster and pins. The picture doesn't do this one justice, the horn polished up beautifully. Lots of depth and figure in the scales.

Sweet Mary and Joseph, Ken L, I just gots to have that horn handled damascus beauty.
That's gorgeous. I love the blade shape and the handle is perfect. Whats the overall length on that beauty.
We need to talk seriously, probably way way out of my range living on this side of the tracks and all but that knife sings loudly....................

That one sings to me too. The lines flow really nicely. KenL and the Colonel both have great taste in knives.

Thanks for the kind words.
Blade length is right at 4 1/4", overall length is about 8 1/2" Blade is 1 1/8" wide and my calipers say it's 9/64" thick. Feels real "warm" in the hand, if you know what I mean.
Up until now I've just been making them for me, although for Christmas presents I made a set of steak knives for my parents and hunting knives for my brother and nephew. My wife keeps asking me what each knife is for....I reply "for me" and she says "oh, you mean for the museum". I do enjoy puttering around making them though.
Bawanna, I'll send you a PM in a bit.

I'm sitting on pins and needles in anticipation. This is not good for a full time wheelchair dude. Well I guess I don't totally feel my backside so I guess it's not really earth shaking but still not comfy ya know.
If that puppy was 1" shorter overall it would be perfect, actually 8 1/2" is so close to perfect I'm calling it perfect anyhow.
Honestly, that thing is gorgeous. Love it, love it, love it!!!!!!
