When I lived there from 1975 to 1985 you could go to the mountains and pull over in a remote spot and fire away. I'm about 99.9% that's changed from the liberal invasion in recent years. Mexican restaurants will be no problem finding. Probably at least one on every block in the larger towns.

Being as I can't read your post I'm guessing you want to shoot in CO? Just find a national forest and you'll be good to go. Just watch out for the hikers and the tokers.

Yes, do not shoot the hikers nor on foot tokers. Also, do not shoot the mountain bikers. Anyone riding a 2-stroke anything on the trails, however, is fair game.

I thought you were talking about the shootings on I-25 near Loveland at first.....

As was mentioned earlier, you can shoot just about anywhere in the National Forests and on BLM land. I've used this site to find some shooting ranges too. http://wheretoshootcolorado.com/ I've also used a BLM range when in Grand Junction, it's just past the airport on 27 1/4 Road.

Where are you going to be visiting in Colorado? There are some good Mexican places, and some that are on a par with Taco Bell. For local chain type places, 3 Margaritas and El Senor Sol are pretty good. They are in the Front Range (Denver to Colorado Springs, maybe Pueblo).

+1 on El Seņor Sol. Eat once a week. Fajita Burrito.

thanks for the suggestions. typical tourist from the east, I-70 to Denver. check out Denver for a few days and then head further west or someplace cool. (if we go in Aug. anywhere that's in the 80's with low humidity is cool for us.) we've been to Dillion years ago. I'm going to read thru wheretoshootcolorado. I'm definitely not going to buy any new guns out there, I already promised.

Nytcrawler93,
I can imagine moving out there and leaving all this* behind. I guess the first order of business after unpacking the truck would be finding a quality butcher who could saw a pork shoulder roast into 3/4" slices. don't care where I am, got to have smoked pork steaks, STL style.

*in recent years the South side has become much like the North side, bang, bang, shoot 'em up.

I'll try that range in Lakewood, looks nice. thanks.

I have found pork steaks here. You just have to know your meat. :) Coloradans don't know what the heck it is.

Pork steaks are a regular staple up here. They get a bit tough on the grill.

Pork steaks are a regular staple up here. They get a bit tough on the grill.

in STL the pork steak (don't bother with the 3/8-1/2" family pack stuff, get a butcher to cut then 3/4-1") starts with a simmer in sauce(all STL sauce recipes are secret) for about 2 hours, then the steak is put on the grill with low heat to carmelize the sauce-- 3/4-1 hour, then it takes another dip in the sauce. you might wonder, is this about pork or about sauce?
plate the steak up with potato salad(another long story), baked beans, etc. 40oz. cold Bud and your in bbq heaven. same general method works on babyback ribs too.

All sounds mouthwatering delicious........................replace the Bud with a Pabst, and I'd be good to go.....................

I do the Cape Girardeau style with a 1 inch pork steak on the grill with some Canadian steak seasoning until light brown and then in a casserole dish covered with sauce and sealed with foil at 350 for 45 minutes. :)
