The last time I shot my CM9 it felt like a toy cap gun next to the Ruger P94 I brought along with. The Kahr is still a great carry gun and I'll still carry it more than any other, but I'm kinda diggin' the new SP101 I picked up today. Shoots very comfortably, and it's not too big, not too small, not too heavy, not too light. About the size and weight of a K9, and made of metal. Yeah, five rounds. Sufficient for 99% of threats.

Nice picture! You get the factory grips with that too?

oh John, your in the danger zone, many who have gone revolver, never come back. geez, that SP sure is good looking, all stainless and all function. your going to have to shoot some .357 to find out what that's like. (to much "turbo boost" for me). so what's next, a Charter Arms .45acp Pitbull? maybe go old school with a Colt Cobra or DS special? have fun.

It came with the standard grips, but I bought the Hogues before I even got the SP in my hands. My GP100 has 'em and it makes a world of difference. Yes, Marc; I'm already there. The SP smacks a little with .357 but not all that bad. I've rented Ruger LCRs and they are horrid even with .38SP.

For some reason vBulletin insists on rotating my pictures. I give up!

SP101 is a great gun. Don't own one any more, sold mine to my sister many, many years back and my stable of J and K frame Smiths are good for my current revolver needs, but I really do like them and have recommended them to friends as first/general purpose/only guns.

John

Welcome to the SP101 club .... and it is an addiction! I bought mine about 5 years ago "like new" (1993 model) from an acquaintance that had kept it as a safe queen. One box of factory ammo and the next day I ordered my start up reloading equipment, and several thousand rounds later there has still been no other factory ammo through the barrel other than the occasional wheel of high dollar SD ammo. Taking up reloading was due to my instant bonding with the SP101 which never happened with any other firearm .... besides, I would not have been able to shoot that many thousand rounds of factory ammo and the gun just begs to be shot :).

The SP is my everyday "field gun", and the CW9 gets Sunday-go-to-meeting carry and most carry when I'm forced to "dress nicer" (in which case a S&W Model 36 is in my boot top to accompany the CW9).

Can you tell I love my SP101 (mine's the 3 inch SA/DA) :)

You sound like a man who might like a K or MK series Kahr.

I've got one of the first SP101's they ever made. Green Xenoy grip panels. I used it for training students, and I used it for my own enjoyment. Its only got about - maybe - six or seven hundred shots fired through it, but the dry firings.... I'd estimate roughly 90,000 based on a dozen students, twice a week, fifty two weeks for about six years, plus my own dry firing practice.

Its's smoother than Bruce Jenner's legs!

Very Nice.
I had the option to buy a LNIB SP101 snubbie for $350.
Wanted to pick it up bad and almost folded.

Thing is I had just bought a pristine S&W 640-1 357 snubbie @ $325.
And a pristine S&W 65-3 357 3" Heavy Barrel @ $350.
So I passed.

Maybe I made a mistake - LOL!

Picked up one for the wife...................they are nice revolvers, but can be a bit rough from the factory.......some sharp areas, machine marks....................but if your going to be shooting heavy loads, that's what it's made for. I changed out the #14 hammer spring, to a #9, and the trigger spring from a #10 to an #8. Shims, polish, and............................................... .smoooooooooooooooooooth. A great carry gun..................................for a decent price...........good size for people with smaller hands.

Whoah! Where did you get those grips, Dave?

I bought them on eBay from "Jaruwan". Inexpensive.

Very nice! How do they fit?

They were not a perfect fit. A little loose but I was able to compensate for that with a little tape on the handle.
