View Full Version : Next Round Didn't Move in to the Chamber

Good Morning!
What would cause a round to not feed in to the chamber in an otherwise perfectly working gun (this was not your typical ftf, it didn't move out of the magazine at all)? I've shot almost 200 rounds and this is the only issue I've had, and it only happened once. I've prepared the gun as per instructions here, and it was clean before this range trip. I don't remember what ammo I was using in that magazine (it was either HPR or Magtech) but again, this only happened one time. Admittedly this occurred around the 60th round shot that day. Any Ideas on what may have caused this and how I can fix it?
Thanks for your help.

Are you sure the magazine was fully seated? I've had this happen, where I used one mag to load a barney round, then inserted another full mag, only to have nothing happen after the first round, because the magazine was not fully inserted.

It could be that the follower hung up in the magazine. Check to see that the follower isn't broken, that the magazine spring is installed properly and that the magazine is clean and free of burrs on the inside. Magazines should be kept clean and dry. No oil is necessary or desired.

Possible causes for failure to pickup the next round

Previous shot fired was low powered (see warnings on squib loads as pertaining to autoloaders)
Hand racking was insufficent
The little break angle at the bottom of the breech face is insuffient
Just bad ammo (ie, bulged, warped, bent, distorted, etc)
Ammo too long, hanging in mag.
Magazine spring assembled reversed or upside down (Kahr's are top bottom swappable btw)
Magazine body bent, dented, warped, distorted etc
Gritty dirt in the magazine
Magazine not fully seated
Wrong ammo

Some of that been said, but I think that pretty much covers what can happen in a poly frame Kahr

I don't see which gun we're talking about here. My first check would be the stripper bevel on the breech face listed on CJB's list. If it only did it the one time, could be any of the others.
