When I got my Ruger LCP 2nd gen, I thought it was pretty close to perfect and I wasn't impressed with the gen 1 versions. So when I started eyeballing the Kahr CW380, I had a lot of heartburn over the thoughts. My LCP got 13 lb springs and SS BT guide rod and it ran so nice and accurate, I knew it wasn't hard to figure out what was going to be in pocket vs the SW 638 I had carried for a few years.

So I know this is a Kahr story. I got it out of the box and started the Clean, Cycle, lube and repeat for about 500 cycles on this little pistol. It went from a bit rough to pretty smooth.

Trigger is very smooth with a little spring crunchy that grease takes care of on spring on trigger bar. Others have that info in here. This process has resulted in both new Kahrs running flawlessly so far. Trigger is long but very consistent. No steps or stages. Just one continuous pull. Very easy to keep sights on target during pull.

Slide was softly beveled everywhere unlike my cm9. Finish and machining were nice and solid. Grip is good without finger rest bases.

All in in all very impressed with pistol. Gets smoother as it goes is very true.

Once to to the range I had some Remington HP 88 grn rounds and some PPU fm just rounds just to see what would stop it. Sling shot worked fine. Loaded with stop fine also. Both rounds fed and cycled 100% with no issues. Hp had a very rounded bullet profile.

Recoil was soft and much less snappy than lcp. Easily acceptable for most people. As long as you can cycle the slide.

Fits in the pocket fine in a holster I made with a dual mag pouch in other pocket. A few more range trips and it should be good.

Accuracy was was fine at 10yds. Found sights to be quite minimal so using more front sight could keep me more consistent with shot placement. I think a bit taller front/rear sight would be nicer on older eyes. That said, I found them fully useable and kept groups easily palm covered with both rounds.

I can see this becoming number 1 for pocket carry over the LCP but only if it keeps up its range habits it has now.

Regardless of what kept me away from Kahrs for years, the cw380 and cm9 I've recently got sure makes me glad I tried them. The consistent manual of arms amongst the models helps great. The lack of levers and external safeties is what keeps things so simple. Since that follows how Glocks also work, I stay within the same methods there also.

So I guess mixing the kook-aid isn't so bad.

With 380 ammo being as good these days as it is, I find it hard to believe it's not the first thing every carrier doesn't put in their pocket every morning. It should really always be with you. 1st layer in defense. My cm9 might be layer 2 if the sig 938 doesn't keep up. It's a heck of a machine though.

Yep! Kahrs make the best pocket pistols. .380 for the smaller, tighter pockets. CM9 for the little bit bigger pockets.
