I am working on the K-series grips. I like the factory choices of rubber and wood. The G10 grips are popular, and folks like them on the MKs. Is there something you might prefer on the Ks? G10 is a pretty expensive material, and the Kahr design means much of it is machined away. There are other types of Micarta that are less expensive. But, G10 is tough.
Other things include polyurethane, other plastics, wood and wood products (laminate, etc).

The best grips I've ever experienced were made by Farrer, (which was later bought by Hogue), made of a soft polymer, fitted to a Beretta 84. Similar but softer than Kahr polymer grips and they had a pebble texture. A slightly softer compound than Kahr's with different texture... perhaps HK P30ish would be ideal IMHO.

I do like the wood and G10 Grip options. I know about the expense of the composite materials. My Son built large, high power rockets with that stuff (fins mostly) and my response was usually "you need how much for that...?"
My question here is would you estimate a G10 grip set to price north or south of $100?
Pretty wood is always on the "got to buy list" for me. The only other thing I can think of prying open my wallet would be a simulated Ivory.
How close are you from beginning to machine K9/K40 grip sets?

I don't think there is a market for a grip set at over $100. At least, the market would be too small to produce anything for. I believe I can do G10 for under $100, but won't know for sure until a bit after the designs are complete.
I will be ordering some printed plastic parts on Friday, after reviewing the design in certain areas again and mirroring the grip and making mods for the other side of the pistol.
From there, it would be about 8 weeks if nothing slows things down.
