Now they are going to ban long bladed pointed cooking knives, since there have been some stabbing with them. And some domestic arguments have resulted in some stabbings. Plus one family waved a knife thru the window at some punks trying to break in. The Police consulted some chefs who said there is no need for a cooking knife over a certain length to have a point on it. I guess hunting knives are legal in certain restrictive situations, since there is no hunting that I know of there, maybe trapping is still legal.
I suppose they will get around to banning anything that can be used as a weapon, cricket bats, golf clubs, pitchforks, sticks, stones. I guess the only knife legal to carry in the UK is a manual opening pocket knife with a blade less than 3 inches. Also, I found out one of the reason's their murder rate is as low as it is, is they only count ones that are solved and someone is convicted. Their conviction rate is about 50 percent, as is the rate of solved murders. What a country.

My wife's sister's hubby is from cookoo UK...................................he is a former policeman in the UK, and quit, because he said frankly, that he couldn't do his job without a firearm, and it was not safe for him, or anyone else. Most of the time, if you do use something to protect yourself, you'll likely be charged with something. The rapes and murders that occur everyday, aren't very well reported.......they don't want you to know any statistics. He was so happy when he got his card, to live here in the U.S..........................now, a happy CCL carrying, firearm owner, gun club member..................it really bugs him, when he goes back for visits.............says he feels naked without his firearm. I told him, that's how he should feel.............................................. ......:p

Cricket bats must be for home protection in the UK since they are tough to carry concealed.

Ive got a brother-in-law who lives there and worked for a rich guy. When we were on Skype one time he saw me cleaning my guns and he said that he cleans his bosses guns after he comes back from the field. He said that you can own firearms there.... if you have enough money.

The working guy cant afford what it takes to own a firearm. Adds a new meaning to "class warfare ".

The only legal self defense item in the UK, is a freaking Rape Alarm. A Cricket Bat or any other item, such as a fireplace poker used in self defense of your home, will get you lengthy prison term, plus restitution to the "choirboys" attempting to steal, rape, and possibly murder you and your family. Full blown libtardism at it's finest. That's where some idiots want us headed.
They want your guns stored with essential parts removed so if they are stolen they can't be fired. The bolt of a rifle, or parts of a shotgun needed to fire it must be removed and stored separately. And all this has to be in government approved storage facility. Ammunition must be kept separate of the other two parts. But if you use a gun for home defense, you are definitely going to prison. And also if you store guns in an unapproved manner. This must be very comforting to the average middle aged Brit, who has to deal with young punk gangs, and crazy camel jocks. Probably doesn't bother criminals much at all.

My gal pal is Brit, and whilst I have adopted many of the customary trinkets of Britishisms, I find little more than folly in most of their ways.

She, of course, is a Tory, hates everything Labor, Liberal, National, Sinn Fein, Green and Progressive.

What we have is your basic big bristol'd bird with blonde hair and an outrageous accent, capable of at least loading and firing a revolver, riding a motorcycle, changing her own oil, and putting up with the rubbish of your's truly.

my hat is off toher on that last part. I would question her mentality to, and maybe even her eyesite. Just sayin If she rides her own bike then she gets my vote, and if she rides a Harley, she leads the pack. My wife has been riding her own Harley for over 25 years, has logged well over 125K miles and is the best riding pardner I have ever had. I always ride behind her so I can watch her back side. Makes a day go by faster. Just sayin.

Watchin' the backside is EXACTLY what caught my own interest J'man!

Seriously, we both met at a mandated (for me) MC riders safety class. Me, the court said GO, so I went (long story, the state lost my endorsement). Her, she's never said, but I firmly believe she had her net out for a new male companion..... After seein' that tushy on a Honder 250 Revel in the class... that was it, my mind was singularly purposed.

More so, she's a ******* Briton, having sailed the Atlantic thrice, crewing on small yachts, and once solo. Hot air baloonist, small aircraft pilot, rock climber.... Her story: She crewed for Jackie-O around the Lesser Antilles, and ended up sailing the yacht, from Barbados to Bermuda. She caught a crewship from Bermuda to South Hampton, where there is no full time customs. Having taken her pay, she bought a bicycle, and rented a room, and began to mingle with the upper crust, offering her house keeping services for hire. Soon several motor vehicles and a house. No papers? Hell, whats to not like. She has blond hair, big hoots and an outrageous accent. Nobody questioned her. Her cousin moved to Florida, so she followed, rebuilt her business down Dixie way, and now owns three houses and had a thriving housekeeping trade for the more well to do among us. And she puts up with my shenanagans. Can't fault that woman much at all, really.
