Could be a dumb question but hey, that's how you learn.
When I remove the slide, insert the slide stop and then insert a full mag I notice that the clearance between the round and the slide stop is really tight. Some sharper pointed rounds don't touch the stop at all while the larger more rounded ones actually touch the stop, you can feel it. If I gently release the mag with the rounds that touch the mag (round) will hang on the stop. My question is could this be an issue with feeding and cause a FTF?
Thanks guys.

I guess the first question I would have is how does it feed? I typically prep the pistol and then go shoot it. If it works fine, I don't spend much time looking for issues. If it feeds fine, the answer is I guess the clearances are just fine. If not, the answer is maybe.

I forgot to mention, I've had some FTF issues and am trying to work through them to figure out why because an EDC needs to be reliable. I attribute most to limp wrist and a stiff gun, some due to break in (only 250 rounds through it), some to the burs on the follower that I've polished and smoothed out (follower failed at 185 rounds and was replaced). I thought just maybe some of this could be the rounds hitting the edge of the stop slowing it down enough to not quite feed completely. I threw this thought out to check if it had been an issue noticed by someone else. Since one of the suggestions is to use multiple brands of ammo I thought that this could be one of the reasons to try them to ensure it clears cleanly. I'll keep working through it. Before the first follower failed I had it firing through the full mag without a hitch. No big issues for me just learning the Kahr pistols. Headed to the range this weekend for another 100+ rounds and I'll bring four types of ammo to try. Any thoughts on heavier or lighter grain being better than the other?
Thanks guys.

I had this problem with Perfecta ammo, everything else feeds fine...so far.

As you said some ammo with blunter wider bullets can be close. In some cases touching.

Usually if it's contacting enough your gun will lock back with rounds in the mag. Not good of course.

But a little bit of material can easily be removed from the stop if a favorite cartridge has issues.

I prefer that my guns shoot everything without issue and so far have had good luck with that but others had to tweek a bit.

Went to the range today and I have an update.
First let's change my FTF to FTS. Every round has fed to the pipe but in some instances they fail to seat all the way, just barely. I've never had a stovepipe, jamb and any issues other than FTS and some of those are most likely limp wrist.
Ordered another mag, 6 round with the extension and went out with only three different ammo types today, my bad. I had a Speer Lawman 165 grain TMJ, a Winchester 180 grain JHP as well as a Remington 180 grain JHP. I actually had two different boxes of the Winchester JHP's and they did look different but I forgot to check the box to see why they differed. One was a bit pointier and one was a bit blunter. The new mag had numerous FTS issues and I have yet to polish the edges like I had the other mag so I'll attribute the issues to that. I will polish it before I try again. I went to the original 5 round mag and I did have a few FTS issues with the Speer and then I switched to the 180 grain and man what a difference. These were the rounds that slightly touched the slide stop and I had assumed that was an issue...not even close. The gun ate through these without fail. I had assumed the lighter blunter rounds that didn't touch the stop would be better but I was wrong, the heavier are much better. No new dings on the feed ramp or on the slide stop. I do have some dings on the recoil assembly though and not sure if this is an issue. I'm going to stay with the 180 grain JHP's for now and see if this is the ammo of choice for this gun. While there I did run 50 rounds through my Taurus (I know, Taurus) PT92 to mimic the CC test and was three rounds from perfect. Those metal framed single action guns are just so much easier to shoot but they are large and heavy.

You guys have fun out there and I will keep hammering this little CM40 until I have it running perfect and then it will be my EDC.
