My previously perfect PM9 has suddenly stopped working so perfectly. I replaced the recoil spring assembly this week and realized tonight while function checking that I cannot lock my slide using the slide release lever. Also the slide does not appear to lock on an empty magazine.

I have assembled and re-assembled over and over again with no luck. I made sure the slide lock spring was in the three oclock position and the slide stop landing was in the correct position. Nothing working. Anyone have any thoughts?

I don't get it. The lever won't move up under thumb pressure. It doesn't move? You can take the lever in and out but it won't move up to catch on the slide notch?

about how many rounds through the PM9?

Did this problem occur while shooting or while you were just checking it?

I cannot lock my slide using the slide release lever... Oh, there's your problem!

You need to engage the "slide lock."

I mean, how do you expect to lock the slide with a "slide release"? LOL

The pistola has about 2k rounds trouble free rounds down barrel at this point. Last week I dropped in a new recoil assembly. I was lubing the pistol and prepping for a range session when I realized that I could not lock the slide during testing. I can move the slide stop up, seemingly as normal but it will not catch the slide. I tried to rack the slide on an empty mag and it would not catch in that fashion either.

the lever moves up under thumb pressure, seemingly as normal. It just won't hold the slide open.

The slide stop lever had to have sheared off or something on the little catch notch. Never heard of that happening. What else could it be where it won't catch on an empty mag or manually empty.
Gotta be the lever itself.

call kahr and get a new slide stop lever, if the gun is shooting and ejecting properly then the slide is going back far enough to eject and to reload, so IMO it has to be a bad slide stop lever. Another thing cold possabl6 be to is that even though you hve the slide stop lever in correctly, eaning that little tab on the inside of the slide stop lever is under the slide stip spring. Your spring could be bent enough, that it is now to stout for the magazine follower to push it up to lock open and also for you to manually keep it up to lock the slide open. Take the slide off the gun, and reinsert the slide stop lever and insert an empty magazine and watch on the inside to see what is happening . the follower should want to raist the slide stop lever. The followers on tyhe magazine hav eto come into contact with the slide stop lever in order to engage on the last round. This should be easy tos ee with the slide off the gun. If the follower is engaging the slide stop lever but nothing is happening, IMO the slide stop spring could be bent causing this. \

If u call kahr definitely ask for a new slide stop spring to. that little screw on the side is a #6 torx by the way and you can get just a tool at sears for aobut $5.

With the gun totally back together, you shold be able to "try" to push up on the slide stop lever a tad and it should definitely pull itself back down. Eliminate the possable, before sending it back

I think you hit it on the head Jocko. I am going to order a new spring and explore this before sending my pistol back to Kahr.
