My New MRI 1911C, A Love Story!

I recently well not too recently, just took me an awful long time to get to the range to shoot it acquired a MRI 1911C.
I already own a 1911G which is it's big brother and an excellent shooter. Probably the most accurate 1911 I own.
I had high hopes for the 1911 C as well and not to give away the ending, I was NOT disappointed.

First it took me so long that I sent it to a training session with our regional SWAT team to shoot just to see if it worked. A fella's gun went south so he used my shiny new 1911 C for the whole day of training.
Put 300 rounds through it with all different kinds of mags, different ammo, whatever they happened to grab.
He reported it never missed a beat, not even once.

I almost put it into my carry rotation at that time but logic prevailed and I decided not to until we mated with each other.
Well last week on vacation I took it out twice and no failures, mucho accurate and shoots right where it looks.

Didn't get too many live action shots this time but a few stills.
Lord forgive me for leaving my shooting glasses in the upraised position, I thought the plane was landing or something.

Love the look from the business end too. Definitely a heavy barrel and very business like.

Anyhow back to the 1911C. If your pondering a Commander, don't pass this one up, it's a keeper, great shooter and starting tomorrow it'll be riding with me whilst the C Bob rest a spell in the toy box.

Well it was a big target, and the sand was a blowing so I reverted to my Jocko barn door target acquisition.

Just shoot and whatever you hit we'll call the target.

Truth is I generally shoot both eyes open, no clue why I was squinting in the pics. Maybe the sand storm?

Wife didn't get a picture of the target this time neither, she did so well last year, over confident I think.

Congrats on the new pistol Bawanna. I almost bought one of these a few years ago, but got an STI instead. I would have been better off with the Desert Eagle, me thinks, both for function and $'s.

That Buffalo gun was just a hoot. I want one of my own now. Heavy ole beast but just fun as heck to shoot.
Heavy as it is, it still belts the ole shoulder some for sure, but it was still fun.
That set trigger is really something, I think your pulse sets it off.

That's a little bit low for face shooting, Colonel! ;) A lot better than I could do, though.

Son shot this last year and I don't recall where he was hitting. I'd saved half a box from the year before when I shot it so he had 10 rounds to enjoy.

I just figured you always shoot faces by default, kind of like your trademark or calling card, so to speak. "Have gun. Will shoot faces.". Something like that. I think.

It's not secret that I do love me a bobtailed 1911. I got the CBob already bobbed, then after some prayer and a little whiskey I bobbed my Remington R1. Since the day I got this Magnum Research 1911C I've wanted to bobtail it. Guess it took me a long time to build up my nerve and break out the hack saw but this weekend was the weekend.

I struggled a bit on this one, it's like I was left handed or something. The cut and hole went fine, but putting the gun back together kept going sideways. I lost the thumb safety spring and detents a couple times, looked for a long time with no luck. Had a spare I dug out and lost it first attempt. Grrrrrr. Then I stumbled on the first one I lost and while picking it up I found the spring for the spare. Life was good again. Like a dummy I was putting the spring in backwards, the smaller detent goes to the front duh......

Anyhow moments ago it all came together and not it's Scotch time for sure. I'm very happy with the results. The touch up bluing worked well and matched good. Feels good. Now I'm pondering the Wilson..........nah, I don't think I could do the Wilson, scratch that.

Yeah, those are my home brewed grips. Stabilized Box Elder Burl as I recall.
