Hello-just picked up my CW45 today. Went through the prepping pretty much according to the sticky and the pistol ran flawlessly.

Welcome and congrats! Good shooting. I don't know how far away you were, but I would have to be pretty close to get those groups. To do that I would be at least closer than I would want to be shooting at steel plates. So, that looks like some purdy good shootin.

Thanks for the welcome and compliments. I was about 12 yards back from the steel shooting about 10-15* from perpendicular to avoid spray fragments. Probably not a good practice but no issues this time. The sights and trigger are fine; biggest complaint so far is difficulty of take down; the witness marks are on the wrong side of the slide/frame(should be on both sides. The grip stippling is a bit aggressive but not too bad for the 25 rounds I shot. I have a couple of meg gar officer mags and will try to modify them so the pistol will have a lower profile. Do any of you have high round counts through a cw45 and how does it hold up to heavy use?

The take down gets easier after shooting and taking it down a few times. The slide stop pin comes out easier and you will find something that works for alignment. I often just align the little semicircular thing and ignore the witness marks. I can't really see them anyway (maybe explains my groups). On both my K9 and CW380, I have something the right width that I can drop in between the barrel and slide and it holds them aligned perfectly. All the others come out easy enough that I don't bother with any "holding" fixtures. After a couple more range trips, I probably won't need any crutches for the K9 and CW380 either.

I don't think you can wear any of then out. They are all basically the same and there are some very high round count pistols around here. On the grip, some like a grip sleeve, some modify them. I like them fine the way they are and they don't bother my hands at all.

Welcome from a native Tennesseean. Grew up in Davidson Co. I live farther south now.

I had 1000 rounds through my CW45 before I reluctantly sent it back for a known from the beginning frame issue. Kahr fixed it for free. Never had problems from the gun but it needed to be fixed. I'm sure you don't have that problem. My new frame has been flawless the first 250 rounds so far and it is tight as s tick but loosening up.

Ok-I modified the Meggar mag lips on the front edge and the mag works well, even holding open;the flat mag bottom plate is a big improvement IMO, reducing the height by a 1/4" or more. I also added a Tuff1 OD Boa grip which defangs the grip serrations and makes the whole grip more user friendly in this .45. Putting some more rounds through it and still banging steel even at 25 yds.

Thank you for posting about the free mag. After reading your post yesterday, I went online to the Kahr site and filled out the info and included a copy of my receipt. Got a email this morning that said the mag had been sent. Even had a tracking number. Shot my CM9 for 1st time yesterday and found that it is one sweet gun, now I'm getting a free mag. Just keeps getting better.

That's great MB!! Just shot mine some more after takedown/cleaning/lubing and it ran perfectly;banged steel every shot. I 'discovered' a little take down jig that makes take down a breeze-it's a tapered nylon clip that came off a new/folded shirt. The fluorescent ribbon makes it easier to find in my shooting bag. Your 9mm may have a lighter operating spring-don't know. Here is a pic.

I hate to admit it but I tried & tried to take down the CM9 but had to ask my husband for help. He couldn’t get the take down pin out after several tries. I really want to break it down to check out before shooting for first time so I took the gun to my local gun shop. They had not sold me the gun but I had bought 2 S&W M&P’s from them. They don’t stock Kahr but one of the staff owns a CW9.
He had a very rough time himself taking it apart but was successful. He checked it out and pronounced it ready to go. Didn’t need cleaning or lubing. Next day shot it 100 rounds and it was flawless. He said that it would get easier after a few more takedowns. I certainly hope so. I will probable ask my husband for help the next time anyway.
The staff are wonderful at this gun store. He also suggested a sleeve for the grip and took the trouble to put it on for me. It fit perfect and make a huge difference to my small tender lady hands. Now I don’t have those grip marks imprinted on my palms.

I have to use a plastic hammer or a screwdriver handle to dismantle mine. Get it in the right spot and a little tap and once it pops just a bit your home free.
It will in fact get easier as you shoot it more and also as you do it more and get familiar with what needs to happen.

I admire your can do and I will figure it out attitude very much.

Glad the sleeve helped your tender lady hands too, ladies often times are the only ones with lady hands though so don't think no less of yourself for that.
