alright guys, hello!

first, i got a new to me k9 in a trade, due to condition i got a questionable deal, but i enjoy a challenge of sorts. I traded an inox beretta 92fs italian model with clear hogue grips 9 mags and a holster for the pictured k9 with one mag, wood grips, night sights, surface rust and general neglect plus $100 for more mags. I have had a k9 in the past, and this one had a real nice trigger, reeeeeaaaaallll nice so i decided to get it.

bought some polish and other assorted supplies and got busy

i think i am the third owner, the first owner switched some parts as the mag release, slide stop, trigger, grip screws& rear slide plate are black.

Looks great! Congrats on your K9. You have "skillz" at getting a pistol looking good!

thanks!

i do relatively minor stuff imo. I thoroughly gauge what the condition is vs what i know i can do and what i think i can do. Thus i take on things a little out of my comfort zone and then put the work in, this one took me about three hours

my first bit of wood working was hand fitting grips to a sig p226. I had ordered some and they did not fit initially, the company told me to mail them back and if they did or didnt fit their test gun, then they would refund me. They would not mail back the grips either way, even though i offered to pay for the return shipping, as they were the only grips i liked. Obviously i was not happy with their response and against their advice worked on them slowly till they fit perfect. I wish i could do this stuff more often cause i rather enjoy getting something slightly off to working properly.

Nice job! I like the black parts, they give your gun a very distinctive look.

Yeah, I was reading your write-up expecting not to like the black parts then I saw the pictures and it really looks good. You did a great job on cleaning it up too. All it takes is a little effort. I'm amazed at how durable these guns are. The finish takes a good scrubbing and comes out looking great.

What was your go to polish? Flitz? 2000 grit paper? All by hand, or used blocks or some type of soft backing material? Good job.

I had the exact 92fs and traded it for something else too so I understand completely. I like your K9. Sounds like you did OK on your deal.
