Been trying to decide if I want to buy an AR 10 in .308 or possibly go with a 6.8 SPC upper for my Stag AR15 for use on deer, hogs, coyotes, zombies etc. The 6.8 has me intrigued. From what I've read on the interweb it appears that with the right ammo it should be adequate for whitetail and I can buy an upper for half the cost of buying a decent AR 10. Just wondering if any of you have any experience with the 6.8.

I have a 6.8spc upper but have never pinned it to my lower. However I do have a 6.5/6.8 upper(the 6.5DTI)developed and built by Mike Milli. Thus far it has taken 13 Tn white tails and a bunch of coyotes with excellent performance. The 6.8 would do the same thing. I have thought about an AR 10 many times but can't get past the weight issues. My AR 15 does everything for which it is used very well.

Thanks for the response TNman. I totally agree about the weight of the AR10, which also puts another check mark in the 6.8 spc column.

I recently built a 6.8. If you want to talk about it you will probably get a more robust response at 68forums.com. I have not taken it hunting yet.
