Hello. Just wanted to ask those of you that own them what you think of the P9. I had my heart set on a K9, but have come to understand that the P9 is basically the same gun, but with a polymer frame. Considering that they are about $200-$250 cheaper than the K9 in my neck of the woods, I'm thinking this may be the way to go.

Anyone have any negative experiences with these?

I liked my P9 so much that I sold my K9 of 15 years or so. The P9 is the same size but weighs 8 ounces less... important to me since I wear shorts and polos most of the year here in NE Florida.

I've replaced my night sights as they dimmed after 12+ years in the K9 and did the same with my bought-used gently P9. It also sports a ported barrel... not that that is needed.

I use the Speer 124-grain +P Gold Dots Short Barrel version for carry and have replaced the polymer magazine bases with metal ones for CC. I use the 8-round extended-grip mags for the range and a carry reload.

The K9 was the most perfect fit... just felt great and handled well, but the P9 is the same without the extra 8 ounces.

Great gun. IMHO, the perfect size and weight for a carry. The P9 is a good quality gun. It's main difference from a K9 is the weight. Both guns however are pretty easy to shoot for extended range visits. The K9 may handle high pressure rounds a bit better but that's a small gain versus the weight saved on a P9.

I like a grip sleeve on my polymer Kahrs. The steel frame models I leave as is.

Can't say anything bad about the P9. Wise choice. My personal favorite is the P9's big brother, the TP9... also a great carry or range gun.

Here's a P and K together, along with a T and TP.

luv my K9 that I bought off of a NY cop, so it has the nypd trigger, which is no big deal for me, but it has the nice Hogue rubber grips that are IMO the best of the best for feel and slimness. I would love tohave a P9, truth be told. Bein I don't carry the K9 the weight is a no brainer. it is my home gun and range fun gun. great shooter to.

I've had my P9 since 2002. Love it. If you want to get technical the P9 is actually shorter then the K9 (5.8" vs 6") yet has a longer barrel (3.565 vs 3.465). None of this means anything since you would need calibers to see it but the 8 oz difference in weight I do like.

Have had no problems with my P9 since I de-burred the magazine lips. With night sights, black finish and polymer receiver, I have no qualms about carrying it in any kind of weather. It fits my smaller hands perfectly and has enough sight radius to shoot out to 25 yards with confidence and 7 rounds in the magazine is enough to deter most aggressors. Very happy with this gun.

Like my P9 very much, also have the K9 and it is my favorite to shoot but the P9 works best to carry.

Have to pretty much echo the responses here. The downfall for me is that it looks so good with its polished barrel and guide rod I hate getting her dirty. :)

My main carry is my Mag-na-ported P40, but my P9 is ready to be the backup if the P40 is still "dirty" from the range, or breaks! I carry an 8-round extended-grip mag for a spare.

I added the ported barrel while Kahr had them on sale at $129.99 + shipping... down from $159.99. I'll get a threaded barrel, too, if they ever put those on sale... same retail price as the ported one.

Dang! I posted this picture again... love to post pictures!

I just picked up a new K9 with night sights...A little pricey yes, but worth every penny IMO.

And there is a photo, so it did really happen! :) Congrats on the beautiful K9.

Thanks! Not wanting to hijack the thread but To date I've already shot 150 rounds thru it and NOT ONE FAILURE of any kind... Ammo used was Freedom munitions 124 gr. FMJ's and Hornady's critical defense. And just this evening I came back from our local range where we participate in weekly local IDPA matches and I brought along my new K9 to help break it in... The K9 handled & felt better than my M&P shield (they're about the same size however the K9 grips are about 1/2" longer) however the weight (23 oz. empty) & the match grade polygonal barrel really helped in the accuracy dept & follow up shots... This is without doubt THE smoothest, sweetest pistol I've ever shot...
