When I was cleaning my PM9, apparently the end cap to the captured spring must have come off. Needless to say, it is now in the Bermuda Triangle, so I'll have to order a new one. The "old" style has 13 turns, and the "new" style has 15. When I count mine, I come up with 14 ?!?
Here's a picture of it. Kahr said to order the "new" style (15 turns), and if it's too long to trim it. I'd rather not do that....... how do YOU count them?

If your PM9 has a taper at the front of the slide it is "new" style.

New style:

Thanks, I ordered the "new style". I went ahead and also ordered recoil springs for my P380.....don't want to incur the shipping when the time comes for that pistol too.

I have the old style, will the new style function reliably?

IMHO, if the nut came off of the captive spring that constitutes a defect in material or workmanship. Kahr should have replaced your recoil spring assembly at no charge.

screw kahr, go to the woffs gunsprings site and order their recoil spring for you PM9 It willbe 13 coils and much les sin price, they offer factory weight and 20.5# weight to. I do think thougyh that kahr today uses the same recoil spring in the new and old style kahr PM9. The 15 coil will not work for sh!t in the old style kahr and they had alot of issues in the new style slide to. This crap of telling a user to just trim it back is puree B. S. Dont buy the 15 coil spring (or what they call the new style) Many complained tha tthey could harldy get thge spring set up in the slide. The slide is a mere .20 longer so I have noclue wy they went t6o the 15 coil but I ca tellyou the 13 coil will work best. Order from Wolffs though, faster service, order a 3 pak, and it gets cheaper. You dont nee dto change that inner sprig. alphonse picture shows both versions, the lower one is the old style blunt noxe PM9, and that used the 13 coil. But if you are gonna order a complete new assembly, then if you have the lower looking sblunt noxe slide, then u must order the old styl.e recoil assembly. If you hve the new taper slide version then you must order the new style recoil assembly. The new style is .020 longer than the old style, so one wont work in the utter, but the 13 coil spring will indeed work in both.http://www.kahrtalk.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=12987&stc=1

while ur at wolffs order a 3 pak of theier 5% stronger magazine springs for your PM9. iF U HAVE THE BLUNT NOXE VERSION, imo U HAVE THE BEST CONCEALED KAHR THAT MONEY CAN BUY. i NEVER DID UNDERSTAND WHY THEY LENGTHENED THE SLIDE ON THEIR MOST COMPACT KAHR That photo shown is a 13 coil spring.

no it will not work right, it will stick out. Order the old style recoil assembly, and hold on to that blunt noxe version, its the best of the best.

Order replacement recoil springs from wolffs gunspprings. They ake allof kahrs springs by the way, but thier service is afaster and lower in price to I like the 20.5# wolffs outter recoil spring, At first you mght get a few failure to lock open but aftert a 100 rounds it will wprk perfectly. It is realy nice whn your shooting +P ammo though and it will work perfect instantly. Nice upgrade IMO.

thats why God gave u two nuts Muggsy, so when u lose one, u don't ***** about it. Just sayin

Normally if one writes kahr and states his case tey will replce the entire assemply. Those assemblys come fully assembly, by an outside vendcer, so I guess you can blame kahr but IMO, sh!t happens.

STILL waiting for the recoil assembly.....ordered it about 2.5 weeks ago......oh well....perhaps the high shipping price was so the package could go on a long voyage before making it one state over from the factory.
