A member posted about receiving a gun from Bud's Gun Shop that was perfect with no scratches or cosmetic flaw of any kind. This immediately got my attention since I'm close to ordering from there, and I'm wondering if Bud's will replace due to a minor cosmetic blemish. Just this afternoon I was about to bid on the same model on Gunbroker. The seller's ad said: As is. No returns. I asked him about cosmetic flaws and he said he cannot be responsible regarding shipping/handling damages. He suggested I purchase from a local brick & mortar store. But Bud's is about $50 cheaper (including ffl cost) than local. I've never bought a gun off the internet. I'm OCD about any kind of blemish on a brand new gun. Whadaya think?

You have the right to inspect the gun when it gets to your FFL shop and if you don't accept it due to flaws or whatever the FFL ships it back.....Internet buying is ok and I understand how you feel but as long as you deal with reputable companies like Buds or Davidsons you will be fine....
I've never bought through Bud's but have many times from Davidson's. Never an issue and, as noted, inspect before transfer/finalizing purchase is normal practice.

That right there.
My last 4 gun purchases were from Bud's - prompt service and they all arrived at my local FFL in fine shape.
Prior to that early last year I had bought 3 guns from Grabagun with no problems at all.
Never had purchased a firearm via the Internet before and was apprehensive like the OP is. 7 guns + no problems = satisfaction.

Learned a long time ago not to buy anything expensive sight unseen. The hard way. Most people are totally honest, but the few who aren't can ruin your whole day.

I try to buy locally, but over the years I bought 6 or 7 pistols from "Bud's", all used, because I couldn't find them at local GS's. The condition in all cases was 'like new', and even better than described. I doubt that you will have a problem with them.

I've used both Davidson's and Grabagun many times... never had a problem.

If you order a new pistol from Bud's and as soon as your FFL gets it, you have the right to inspect the firearm before accepting it. As soon as you fill out the 4473, pay the transfer fee it's yours, even if you do not fire it, it will be considered "used". Bud's return policy suggests that you inspect it before signing the 4473, if you dont like it for whatever reason they'll pay for the return shipping. You're not stuck with it if you're not happy... I've ordered two handguns from them in the past year and have been very happy with them...

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Bud's. But the op is talking about buying from a seller who says "As is. No returns." Be careful.

Ahhhh, Gunbroker... That's different. From what my friends say & what I've heard/read online buying a used gun online is hit or miss... But that can be true with anything purchased used.. Me personaly since I'm not a collector I would buy new.

That $50 would be worth it to me. Not only (1) because I was able to inspect the gun but (2) because it's worth a few bucks to support my local gun stores. If they go away I will no longer have the choice. I've always been able to find "close" deals locally and have yet to need to buy online. I would do it though if the gun I wanted simply wasn't available any other way. Used guns are another matter. Hunting for one locally is half the fun! :)

Exactly. If you don't like the gun for any reason, you don't fill out and sign the 4473. Your FFL ships the gun back to Buds at Buds expense and you get another one to inspect or you get your money back.
I've bought three new guns through Buds in as many years and all of them arrived in pristine condition. Try that at your LGS where they only likely have the one in the showcase to sell and it's likely been handled how many times? I've tried to bargain with two of my LGS asking them if they would match Buds prices. They couldn't.
If you expect to get a new gun without a single cosmetic flaw, remember all new guns are test fired at the factory before they are packaged and shipped.

I appreciate all those who took my question seriously and responded accordingly. I did not know you had the option to inspect, etc. at the ffl. Many thanks for all the info. If my lgs can come within $25 of Bud's they will probably get my business because I do like to support the local guys. With the info you provided I would feel safe about buying from Bud's. Meanwhile, I'm going to the gun show this weekend. Never know, I might even find it there. I'm guessing the price on a new gun there could not match Bud's. But again, I've never bought a gun at a show.

I once passed on a date with a gorgeous blond leggy airline stewardess, because she had a small mole on her cheek. :) Not.
1. get a laxative, it helps with anal retention
2. buds is 100percent legit, only problem will be mfgr problem, not buds
3. gunbroker, and all the rest, you never know if the new gun is new... too much wheelin and dealin goin on. if a gun came with with box and papers and it looked new, they might call it new, even though its not. there are no scruples when dollars are involved
4. take the laxative
5. take more
6. if it really bothers you, find a brick and mortar, or just get the thing from buds and quit the drama

Buds will send you an email explaining the "inspect before 4473, etc etc" part of the routine.
In all my dealings with Buds, I had one single issue, a Ruger Bearcat with a tight transfer bar. I accepted it anyway, knowing Ruger would make it right. They did, no cost, too.
Bud's phone staff is EXCELLENT.
As been said... they might not be the very cheapest, but they're close to that, and offer the service that is really good.

I have bought only one gun from Bud's, it was a new Para Ordnance with night sights....only when I got it it had no night sights. Their response was to send it back or they could credit me $50. I buy local now.
