View Full Version : Bar Dot Night Sights?

OK, so I really, really like the bar dot, "dot the i" sights on my PM9. It is a great combat sight picture! And, I have found it to be very accurate and exceedingly easy to acquire the target with these sights.

That all said, I would like to see that same sight picture in night sights. I though do not want just luminous paint. Rather, real glowing sight tubes.

The PM9 has dovetail sights ... any ideas on how this might be able to work? even to the point of using two front type dot sights, one in the rear and one up front?

Maybe a standard front night sight in the rear with a halo front sight up front?

Ideas welcomed. Thanks.

Look up the XS big dot night sights. that might be close to what you are looking for.

I don't know of anybody currently making a single dot or bar rear night sight for Kahr pistols.

Heinie and MMC used to.... you might stumble upon one of those, but they've been out of production long enough that the sights would probably need to be re-lamped.

Tooltech Gunsight will replace tritium tubes. I believe they also do custom work, so you might contact them in that regards: http://www.tooltechgunsight.com/

Along that line, Dawson Precision makes their own sights. You might contact them about making what you want: https://www.dawsonprecision.com
Even if they won't, I think their plain rear sight would make an excellent host for Tooltech to work with:

XS sights lists their Express sights for Kahrs as having only a "rear stripe" ...still you could contact them about a custom order: https://www.xssights.com

Two front sights might work...if you can find the right height combination and correct dovetail sizes...good luck that though.

Another option, would be to have new dovetails cut on the PM9 slide to fit night sights for other brand pistols or try fitting night sights for other brand pistols to the Kahr dovetails. Again, good luck with that (considering the difficulty finding the right height combo and something large enough to allow machining the Kahr slide).

Are you handy? http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=295997

Phosphorescent paint might look like a better option after pursuing some of the above.

Greg

I like the "dot the eye" on my MK.......................put XS Big Dots on another one of my firearms...........................pretty much the same thing.......vertical line and big dot up front. It's just that the verticle line is a bit wider, and the front dot is larger. If I could put them on all of my firearms, I would. The best thing for older eyes..........................

XS has a "small" dot option also, I have that on a pistol or two.

I like the small or standard XS dot sight a lot. I put the big dot on my PM45. For small guns it's quick, for larger guns the standard dot is a little more refined and perhaps a bit easier to shoot accurately.
