Is THIS weekend. I'm pretty excited. I've taken his 3 day Instructor Development Course twice and assisted on the line twice more. I feel I'm ready for the Advanced course. Shooting my Glock 19 from my IWB hoslter (my daily carry gear). I will report back Monday.

Supposed to rain and storm all day both days. Greaaaaaaat.

The course is normally only offered once a year and this year it's 45 minutes from home, it's a must take.

Well as Will Rogers said, "If you don't like the weather in Oklahoma, wait 5 minutes". Turns out we had 2 gorgeous days of training, I even got sunburned (which is pretty easy for my Casper white self).

We had 9 students in the class. 2 guys were from Rangemaster's home range in Memphis, Tom's wife Lynn took the class, 1 guy from San Antonio, an NRA Training Counselor friend (my TC when I got my first certification) from South Carolina, a SWAT team guy from NW Oklahoma, and 4 local folks including myself. We had 5 men and 4 women (girl power!)

We did 2 days of intensive drills, a LOT of bullseye work, especially from the 25 yd line (which I desperately needed). On the morning of Day 2 we shot for record. We shot the Rangemaster Instructor course and the ATF Course of fire (ATF was new to me). I shot 246/250 on the Rangemaster (98.4%, my highest score ever on that course), and 98/100 on the ATF course.

I also placed 3rd in the class on the Farnam "Dance" with a time just over 10 seconds (can't remember the exact decimal, .19 or so I think), no misses. For those unfamiliar, the Farnam "Dance" consists of five rounds and one dummy go into your magazine set up by a training partner. The dummy may not be the first round or the last round. Have another full magazine on your support side. You fire all that is in the gun including clearing the malfunction, reload, and fire 3 more rounds. You MUST move on the draw, move on the malfunction, move on the reload, hit inside an 8" circle at 5 yards. A "really good" time is 12 seconds or less with no misses.

We also shot a drill of 5 rounds in 5 seconds from the 5 yard line, hitting a 3"x5" index card. All rounds inside the card to pass, under the allowed time (5 seconds), and you draw from concealment.

Overall it was a great class. We shot about 1000 rounds over the 2 days, we had about 4 hours in the classroom and the rest on the range. I greatly improved with my daily carry gun, especially from distance.

My Rangemaster Qual target. I yanked the trigger on 1 of the strong hand only shots, went low left, and got 1 outside the 8" ring from 25 yards. Still incredibly happy, best I've done on that course.

My certificate. YAY!

5 rounds in 5 seconds from the 5 yard line, from concealment. A LOT harder than it sounds.

A local friend that owns a range near me brought out his Glock 18 for us to play with after class.

Good times.
