Well, I've been out of the loop on Handi-Rifles so I was disappointed to read on various forums that Freedom Group has ceased production of them.:(
I guess that the proliferation of lower end bolt guns and changes in hunting regulations (at least in Mississippi (http://www.clarionledger.com/story/outdoorsreport/2015/07/21/handi-rifle-officially-dead/30479745/)) led to their demise.
IMO, they were decent rifles at a good price. I've owned them in various calibers over the years and still have two on hand.

Any other 1871/Handi-Rifle owners out there?

Greg

I have a 20 and a 410 Topper I think they call them, not sure they qualify but they are a spittin image of the Handi Rifle. Have that case hardened frame like your top photo.

I love that Buffalo Classic.

I have a 410 Topper that I've had since I was twelve, so about 10 years or so. :)

Handi rifle with barrels: .223 .30/30 and 12 ga. Have inserts for 20 ga. and 410 that go inside the 12 ga. barrel.

I have a 410 Topper also. It was my first gun. Special spot in the safe.

I have Hands Rifles in 223 Rem., 300 ABC Blk, 280 Rem, 30 WCF, and 45/70. The Versa Pack 22LR / 410. And the Sidekick in 50 cal. I am a big fan of the Handi Rifle. Hated to see them go.

Lost a 22 Hornet in a house fire, looking for another one. Would also like to have a Buffalo Classic in 45/70, although I wouldn't turn down one in 38/55 or the carbine version in 45 Colt.

I would also like to do a few stubbs. 30 Badger and 32/22. Would also like a 7.62x54R with a true .308 bore or a 30/40.

I do not have any Handi Rifles but do have a H&R 1873 Trapdoor in 45/70. It was made in 1973 and I believe, 1 of 1000 made. It has never been fired. Been thinking of selling it if anyone is interested. It is in brand new condition. I need to take pictures of it and a 45/70 Remington Rolling block target rifle I have and post them in the classified on this forum.

Getting back to the Handi rifles. Really too bad they are discontinued. They are great rifles!

WMD, always nice when you stop by buddy. You should do it more often.

Color me interested, I'd love to see the pictures so I know how hard I have to start searching for money, you know how it goes.
