Already calling for gun control

Tonight while I was at dinner (alone, traveling for work) I read that Obama held a press conference calling for gun control in the aftermath of the Oregon college shooting. It gets my blood boiling. Several reasons.

We don't know anything about the shooter. Was he (assuming it's a he, I couldn't find any info) mentally defective in some way? I did see that he was only 20, if he used a handgun (again, don't know, couldn't find info) how did he come to have one in his possession? And just how is it MY FAULT that another nut job went off?

While Obama is making stuff up, he should add things to his list. Ban or license all the "shooter type" video games. It seems this latest batch of wacko kids are just that, kids. They learn society from impersonal video games that give them so many "lives" and also involve a reset button. How about, while he's at it, license all computers. Hey, computers are used for child porn, identity theft, and all sorts of nefarious activities every day. Make everyone register their computer with a federal database.

I just needed to rant. It seems that socialism doesn't look for the underlying causes of issues, they just want to "do something" that makes them feel good but is ultimately ineffective. All they have to do is just look around the world to see how well their ideas work in different countries.

I hope I'm wrong, but I see another crap storm on the horizon.

Previous school shootings have actually had the opposite effect and made college campuses more open to CHL holders here in Oregon.

Hopefully they ignore the media and continue that trend making it easier for people to defend themselves.

Unfortunately, Umpqua was already a campus that allowed CHL holders to carry on campus and it did not help because the CHL holders who were carrying were not present where the shooter was.

In the end, being able to carry doesn't matter unless you actually take the responsibility to do it, and no one did in that area.

This whole event is tragic and I just hope that some of the people involved can learn from the experience.

Just listened to a news conference given by the ATF which said they found 6 guns at the school, 7 at the killers house and 1 traced back to a gun shop that he traded for one found at the school.....All 14 weapons purchased LEGALLY so more laws aren't the answer........I wonder how many of the 4 killed and 52 wounded in Chicago last weekend were shot with legally purchased guns?.....Obummer failed to mention that last night during his rant for more gun control when he said that cities with strong gun laws have a much lower gun violence rate......Disgusting habitual lying turd who bends facts to fit his agenda....

That's one of the dumbest statements that the sheriff ever made. The perp is dead. He isn't going to hear his name mentioned by the media or the sheriff. Keeping his name from the public keeps the public ill informed.

No it isn't - that tactic is for the future nutjob killers - diminish the publicity those a-holes crave. From what I've read, this Oregon a-hole wrote how he saw all the "fame" mass murderers get from the MSM and social media. IMO, just dutifully report their names to begin with, then don't mention them by name again. Even the social media providers can delete the nutjob worshippers if they choose to do so.

Can't say for sure. I have noticed for some time how people will go to any length to get on TV. During a live newscast folks will poke their head into the picture to wave to mom or whatever. Can't really understand this. I have always kept low profile. The less people know about me or see me the better. Different strokes I guess. I was interviewed by the media twice years ago. They twisted what I said so badly I didn't even recognize it. No thanks. Some people make some kind of heroes out of these slime balls. Guess I am getting old.

Years ago I attended the NRA National Match Competition at Camp Perry. Sixty minute's Morley Safer and his crew were in attendance interviewing NRA members. Sixty minutes edited out everything good that was by the members said and hammered those who said something off the wall. I'm not saying that the Oregon shooting, Sandy Hook shooting or any of the others was a conspiracy because real people got killed and injured by real bullets but could it be possible that some secret off the record Obama Police Squad has a list of these nut balls which wouldn't be hard to come up with from the internet ramblings of these fools and every time Obama gets his ass in a real bad jam they pick one up, fill him up with mind altering drugs (as if they need it) and drop them off at a school and tell him everyone in the building hates him and wants him dead and now it's pay back time.....I know, far fetched but Sandy Hook happened right after the Benghazi debacle and this one happened just as Vladimir Putin started making Obummer look like the fool that he is in Syria and that was on the media 27/7 until the shooting happened then it was on 24/7.....A good school shooting gets CNN off your back in a hurry.....I don't trust this man not to do something like this because it diverts the publics attention, gets the heat off him and furthers his anti gun/gun control agenda at the same time......Win Win for him, Right?.....Nothing about the Hussein administration would surprise me anymore....
