I've had my CM9 for around a week. I have 250 flawlessrounds through the gun and I'm very pleased with it. I am however having aslight issue that I have not noticed until I actually loaded it up to startcarrying it. I put six rounds into the six round magazine. I then locked theslide back. I then inserted the magazine and sent the slide forward to chambera round. I then went to eject the mag to top it off with another round. When Ihit the mag release nothing happened, it was like the magazine was caught onsomething. I hit the bottom of the mag with my hand and pressed really hard onthe mag release and it finally came out. I inserted another round into the magazineand inserted it. This time when I hit the mag release it came out perfectly. Ithen unloaded the gun to see if the same issue would happen. Again and againthe same issue would happen. It only happens after I chamber a round andattempt to eject the mag to top it off.
Could I have an out of spec mag release/catch? When the gun is empty the magrelease ejects the mag just fine. But when after I chamber a round it happens.I should be receiving my promotion magazine today in the mail. I'm going to seeif the same issue happens with the mag before I call kahr about it. Over thepast couple of days it has gotten slightly easier to eject the mag afterchambering a round but it’s still not a positive as it should be. I've ownedtwo of the Kahrs before and have never came across the issue.
Does anyone have any idea of what I should do?

The top round in the mag might be sliding forward a touch, keeping the magazine from dropping out.
I usually load the chamber after putting two or three rounds in the magazine. The magazine springs in Kahrs are pretty stiff. You might have enough friction on that top round to cause it to slide forward when the round above is chambered. I doubt it has anything to do with the mag release, or catch.
Different ammo might behave differently. I think I would just chamber before loading all 6 rounds.

I'll have to try that. I was able to load all six rounds in the other Kahrs I had without this issue. You may be right though, if it was a mag release/catch problem it wouldn’t matter if I had a round in the chamber or not.
I did receive my promotion mag in the mail. I tried it out and it was much better. Out of the probably 15 times I tried to simulate the problem, it did it once or twice. There seemed to be no real difference between the two mags.

You might try stretching the spring a bit in the mag that's giving you the problem to put more pressure on the follower, or you could order a new mag spring from Wolff that are 5% heavier to promote better feeding.

Thank you muggsy, I will consider trying those. I went ahead and tried what Alfonse said and it seems to have made the issue go away. The mag drops fine now if I only put three rounds in the mag before chambering a round, then eject the mag to top it off.
The one mag only has 250 rds though it, the other is brand new. Could the springs really be that weak from the factory? I do know Kahr mags are the weak link in a lot of problems people have, kinda like 1911 mags.

I'd run another couple hundred rounds through it. Make sure the mag is fully seated. I think GA is thinking the same thing it am the stiff mag when you insert a full mag is not fully seating.
Someday. That’s a dangerous word. It’s really just a code for ‘never’.

I too think it will progressively get better just with use.
I'm generally not a fan of top loading a magazine but like in the case of my PM45 where it only holds 5 I find myself top loading.

I think it will get better after more use. It has went away after using the Alfonse method though.

Kahr gun springs are made by Wolff. I don't know that the test every spring that they manufacture, but they probably check a few samples from each lot. It's possible that a weak spring could slip by the inspectors. Hey, nothing in this world is perfect except for me, and I'm not so sure about me. :)
